Today, my dad described our security cameras recording a stranger stealing money from his car, and then called me unhealthy and paranoid for locking my car all the time. My car is usually parked right next to his. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste

Helicopter parents
Today, my dad tried to confiscate my car keys because he doesn’t like how late I stay out on the weekends. I’m 26, have owned my own home since I was 24, and also how the fuck does he know what time I get home? My own dad is stalking me. FML
Today, my father told me to take the car and get some groceries. An hour and a half later, coming home with the groceries, I see the cops all around my house because my dad had called them, thinking that I had run away and stolen the car. FML
Today, due to bad weather, my dad let me take his car to drive to my apartment 3 hours away. I only realized when I got there that my keys were still sitting on my parents' kitchen counter. FML
Women be shopping
Today, I couldn't find my car in a mall parking lot. After 30 minutes of searching, I reported it stolen to the mall security. It turns out that I'd parked it on the opposite side of the mall. Security escorted me to my car, all while giving me pitiful looks. FML
Today, my boss reported to the police that a suspicious car has been parked outside the store late at night. I walked outside and my car was gone. He had my car towed. FML
GTA
Today, both my car and my father's car were broken into. They stole my radio, purse, wallet, camera, and multiple items of clothing. What did they take from my dad's car? Some screwdrivers to help rip my radio out of my dashboard. FML
Alexa, play "Your Daddy's Car" by The Divine Comedy
Today, I borrowed my dad's car to run a quick errand, which he never lets me do. I thought I’d got away with it until he got home and started yelling. I forgot, dad always reverses into driveways, while I prefer to drive straight in, and I'd parked his car facing the wrong way. FML
Today, I noticed a car following me all the way to my house. It was dark so I got really nervous and called the police. The person got out of the car. It was my mom. FML
Messy
Today, I was playfully walking back to my car with my girlfriend. My door was unlocked. I then noticed my car had stuff scattered inside. A bum had just robbed and ransacked my car. FML

I think your father missed the point about leaving the car unlocked. The point is there is nothing for theives to steal and the car is a worthless piece of junk that's not even worth the time to steal.

He’s right. He parks his car in the bad neighborhood, just so you can park yours in the good neighborhood where it’s ok to not lock your car. Ingrate!

I know! It's amazing how drastically the quality of neighborhoods change within a matter of feet!

I am sorry your Dad is a fool. I can barely imagine how stupid it is to go to the trouble or expense of putting up security cameras and not locking his car and leaving valuables in an unlocked car to be stolen. I assume your dad was displacing his anger from himself for not locking his car to you that you took reasonable precautions.

Dad should have spent the money on a touch sensory pad to alert him when someone gets into his car.

lol Where I'm from you can actually get sued if you don't make sure noone gets inside your car without you knowing it. I'm not making this up.

With the exception of someone who lives on a farm or somewhere where there is a least an acre of land. Why would you think is a good idea to leave your car unlocked.

If you knew the car was unlocked the smart thing would of be to lock the car
