Today, after being moved to three different employer-provided apartments because they all had mold and electrical problems, I requested a bigger bed. The bed they delivered had bedbugs. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Horrible little things
Today, after three visits from exterminators and another from a steam cleaner, I still have bedbugs. FML
Today, three days after finally having a bed to sleep on, I woke up with multiple bedbug bites. I can't use my blankets, wear any of my clothes and it's back to sleeping on the floor for me. FML
Today, my girlfriend and I moved back in after over a month of couch hopping and $2,000 of heat and chemical treatments for a chronic bedbug issue. I just found bedbugs on my legs. We've used all our favors and have nowhere to go. FML
Today, I discovered I have bed bugs. I have nowhere else to sleep and I won't be able to afford a new mattress for at least a year. I'd better get used to these giant welts. FML
Plagued
Today, I just moved into my second apartment after the first one was infested with fruit flies, which were coming out of cracks in the floor. We discovered they had tried to cover this fact up so we'd move in. Guess what this new one has? Bed bugs. I asked if there was a history of bug problems and they said no. Lies. FML
Bugging out
Today, while working the graveyard shift at my hotel, it felt a little chilly, so I grabbed a blanket out of the box we usually store old blankets in. Twenty minutes later, the live-in maintenance man casually remarked that those blankets are all infected with bed-bugs. FML
Today, after being nearly homeless and couch-hopping for the last few months, I finally signed a 1-year lease. When I got home, I was surprised to see a picture of my new complex on the front page of the newspaper. It turns out that they are fighting a serious bedbug infestation. FML
Invaded
Today, one of my employees called in after his 8-hour shift, explaining that he had bed bugs at home, found one on his shirt, and thinks they are in the store. I own a mattress shop. They'd spread. FML
Today, I discovered that my bed has a flea infestation. I discovered it after sleeping naked in it for about an hour. FML
Today, I woke up to something crawling on my leg. Thinking it might be a spider, I jumped out frantically to check. The good news: it's not a spider. The bad news: it's a bedbug. My apartment was just treated for them. FML

Something tells me you should consult your fellow employees to see if sub-standard housing is in your contract :P If not...either file a grievance or find a job where you aren't required to share your apartment with vermin.

Burn the mattress and box spring before the bedbugs take over! It can cost up to six figures to rehab the apartment after you had an infestation! And I have scars from where they attacked me after a really bad hotel stay. I bought a purple mattress. Love it! I am allergic to dust mites and this bed is made in a way that mites really can't set up shop inside it

After having to be moved three different times, I’d have kept my mouth shut about the bed especially since I’d figure there’d be something wrong with that also.

I understand your logic!

Was it bigger?

Nah, I'd quit. If they can't be bothered to provide sanitary, healthy living environments for their employees, they're not worth it.

I don't know how the housing situation is where you live, but suddently, finding an apartment yourself becomes much more interesting. Don't forget to have the bills for the rent, moving truck, furniture, extermination service, mandatory beer and pizza, etc. sent to your employer.

To be fair, they were living in the bed way before you showed up.

You've clearly never dealt with bedbugs. It's really not fun or a joking matter.

sometimes you just have to giggle at your misery. and bedbugs are the reason I'm 1:sleeping on the couch in a room with a baby and guaranteed neck pain and 2: tossing the bed head I've had since I was 2. the nostalgia and convenient shelves are not worth it.

I'd have told them to take their sub standard housing and stick it somewhere. Maybe not on so many words of i wanted to keep the job, but then go rent your own place of its possible.

I think you need a new job.

If there placing you in unhealthy places and giving you bug infested furniture then why don't you just ask for a monthly stipend for rent ( this way if you want something more you just pay the difference ) and then you can buy your furniture and pay the difference of that.
