Today, I went to pick up my paycheck at the convenience store I work at. While there, two frat boys came in and bought seventeen 30 packs of beer. That comes to about $300. They spent more at the store in one day than I get paid in two weeks. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Drunken antics
Today, I put my paycheck in my wallet, intending to cash it in the next day. Later on, I met up with a friend and went to a party. I ended up getting so drunk, I gave away my $400 check in exchange for a pack of smokes, thinking it was a $5 bill. FML
No refunds
Today, I went to the grocery store with three bags full of sausages that I'd drunkenly bought the night before. Even though the manager remembered me, he wouldn't give me a refund, and now I'll be lucky if I can pay my rent this month. FML
Dad priorities
Today, as he was going out, I asked my father if he stop by the store and buy some tampons for me and toilet paper for the house, because we have been out for the last 5 days. He came home with a 30-pack of beer and cigarettes instead. I just started my time of the month and we have no more money. FML
Today, while I was working in the liquor store, I was trying to impress my hot boss by lifting three cases of Grey goose. Turns out I can't, and I'll be working for the next two months of the rest of my summer paying it all back. FML
Premeditated
Today, I went out to eat with my friends. When the bill came, all three of them had "inconveniently" forgot their wallets at home. I ended up having to pay. It was a $178 check. FML
Today, my dad screamed at me because I've been "spending too much money". He's been out of a job for 4 months and I've been giving him 300 dollars a month to help pay for bills... and his beer. FML
Today, I went to the grocery store where I work to pick up my pay check. After I got it, I headed back to the dorms to take a quick nap before Chemistry later. I woke up, and my check was gone. I later found it. In the form of a text from my roommate saying he gambled away 'our' money. FML
Late night customers are the worst
Today, I was working at the local liquor store. An obviously drunk girl stumbles in, grabs two cases of beer and puts them on the counter. Then she grabs a pregnancy test, pees on it right there, shows me, and says, "I'm not pregnant, I want beer." FML
Today, for the third time this week, I had to clean up after someone who pissed themselves in the beer aisle at the grocery store where I work. FML
Sting
Today, when I went to the gas station to buy beer, some underage punk outside asked me to buy him booze. I told him to get bent, but the dumbass cashier had seen me talking to him, and refused to let me buy alcohol because, "This is obviously a sting." FML

Its really easy to make money if you're throwing a party. Watch this: $300 for 510 beers = $0.588 per beer. Average person at a party drinks about 5 beers or so, but for conservative estimates' sake, call it 6. That's $3.52 worth of beer per person at the party, which you can charge $5 at the door to get in. $5 - $3.52 = $1.48 profit per person, multiplied by 85 people at the party (510 beers / 6 beers per person), gives you a net income for the night of $125.80, and said party can be held 3 nights a week (Thursday - Saturday), giving you a weekly income of $377.40, which is higher than you make. Go to college, learn math, make friends, and you too can figure out how to make more than $300 per week.

Bro they were having a party or stocking up. I doubt that the money to buy that beer came from two dudes. If you get upset by the fact that people spend money to have a party, man I dunno what to say.

That was clever and all, and yes, I am a guy, but since i DO go to college, that took me all of 5 seconds to figure out. Really not that hard to do basic addition and subtraction. Also, really not that hard to spell words like "you" "you're" and "sandwich."

Sure_Thing, "YOUR" my hero!
Subtext 10
OR you get the stuff on sale or return and charge 1,50$ (~1€) per beer...like they do in every dormitory or fraternity bar over here.... Prices may vary...

FAIL @ #32 for using the wrong "your." In this case, should've been "you're." Better luck next time, friend.

Hooray, community college! Your math lacks a very important factor. Based on your math, either none of the guys in the fraternity drink any of the beer or you are also charging each guy in the fraternity to drink beer they already paid for. To the other posters, it wouldn't be all that odd for two guys to buy $300 worth of alcohol. I did it a few times while in college when I hosted parties. I spent around $400 myself for one party on alcohol, food, and the ensuing noise violation. And anybody worth a damn doesn't charge people to come to a party. Thanks ahead of time for the insults about how much I spend or mentions of daddy's money (not true, part time job on top of scholarship = leftover $$). And another thing, why the hell would you spend $300 on cans of beer when you could have gotten 6 kegs of a cheap beer or 3 or 4 good kegs of good beer. I went to UGA and Athens is a mecca of alcohol prices, so do the math if you need, but its true. $45 kegs of Stones or Natty. $55-65 for imports. If you spend more than $60 downtown on yourself, you're hammered or $100 will take care of you and a few girls easily.

Not community college, but whatever. Whenever I have parties, all of my roommates chip in the same amount as everyone else, and since i didn't really feel like estimating the amount of guys in the frat, and since most of my figures were ballparks (like the number of beers per person), my point still remains. Also, these are frat guys, and every frat party around here charges. But then again, frat guys aren't exactly "worth a damn," as evidenced by the fact that they bought 510 cans of beer, instead of spending about half what they did on a keg.

Ok, sorry. I just don't think there is any profit to be made by buying 30 packs of stones. The point remains that $300 split between a fraternity is nothing. Agree with you on the frat guys. When the girls get tired of getting treated like crap the first couple years, they turn to guys who never based their identity on the other guys they pay to hang out with. Bunch of alcoholics and coke heads.

Amen to that. It's only so long until Abercrombie Polos start losing their position as a status symbol. And living in a small house with 20+ other guys just screams independence and self reliability...

stereotypes and generalizations ftw!

Stereotypes and generalizations aren't just created because one person said something that caught on. They exist because it is something many people have noticed and aren't too politically correct to point out. Sorry if your short shorts and polo get wrinkled by this, but they are stereotypes for a reason.

Sure your math makes sense and all, but think of the toll a party takes on a house; holes punched in the walls, humidity, stuff spilled on the floor. You might want to up your profit margin.
Sure_Thing 0
Jeez, I try to do some fast math while doing homework, and everyone finds the holes in my logic. Ok, so the frat drinks, call it 3.52 x 20 or so, that's like $70.40 off your total. Hopefully the party won't take much of a toll on the apartment, but if you keep damages under $55.40 a night and you still make a profit, drink for free, and have a great time all around. If you buy kegs, variable costs go down, you get a higher contribution margin, and a higher total overall. Have something else going on, DJ or something, and you can charge more. Buy more beer, have more people, you get more profit, but higher fixed costs on repairs. Either way, it justifies the expense, and makes this NOT an FML. (And they say business degrees are useless).

52 if you paid attention he put his your in quotations. I'm no Einstein but I'm pretty sure he was sarcastic seeing his your was all in capital letters and " " once again so "YOUR" wrong. heh oh in case you didn't figure it out yes I put that wrong on purpose

Likely fake. It's illegal to sell that much to one customer.

Dirty thirties are nasty...

That is not true in all states. I have bought beer in excess of that quantity for a fraternity party several times. Regarding buying cases instead of kegs, some schools have a policy against having kegs.
hellyah_123_ 0
A.) its illegal to do that. read #25's B.) get another job

Do you believe everything St0rm11 tells you?

So? You're probably in high school or college and not working full time. The frat boys are buying the beer for a party, it's not all their money. If you're jealous, join a frat and you'll be fine.
bexox 0
Except for the dues. Those are expensive.... and the OP is a woman, so sorority. Unless it's a co-ed frat, then she could join.
LemonStarship 5
How about you stop whining and go do something about it. Start your own business and make some big bucks.
arissia 0
There is almost no way they paid for all of this themselves. It's more likely they just didn't want to send the ENTIRE FRAT in to buy beer and just pooled their money and sent two people.
kaykay007 0
**** their lives, kegs are cheaper why wouldn't they just buy a keg or 2 with $300???
idrivefast 0
I hope you know when people buy that much they are buying for a party where usually a lot of people pitch in money for it.

shut up you whiner. at least u have a job
