Today, I was working out in the gym when a fitness trainer came up to me and said it wasn't safe to be exercising while this far along in a pregnancy. I was too ashamed to tell them that I'm not pregnant, so I went along with it. Time to find a new gym. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Distraction
Today, I was in the gym when I noticed three trainers who worked there staring at me. Thinking that they were checking me out, i turned the speed on the treadmill higher. Finally one of the trainers came over, and asked me to leave until I got a sports bra that actually worked. FML
Today, I was fired from job as a personal trainer. Why? Because I was working out with a friend while off-duty. Apparently, working out with a friend on a day off means I am training them under the table. FML
Today, I dragged my son along with me to a work party because I didn't want him home by himself. Halfway through, he stood up and made an announcement about my pregnancy. I had to explain to all my coworkers and my boss that I'm not pregnant, I'm just fat. FML
The first step is the hardest
Today, I went to the gym after months of procrastinating. I walked straight into the glass wall next to the entrance instead of the door. A guy lifting near the front desk winced in sympathy. I still worked out, but I could see my face slowly swelling in the mirror. FML
Today, at school, one of my students confidently told me that I "wasn't hiding my baby bump very well anymore." I'm not pregnant. Just fat, apparently. FML
Take it easy
Today, I went to the gym for the first time in months. I was so out of shape that I couldn't even finish my warm-up. FML
Know your place
Today, I went to the new gym I recently signed up for and started exercising in the men-filled weights room, despite being intimidated by them and the strange looks they were giving me. Workout over, I left the room and saw in front of me a door marked, "Women's weights room." Oh. FML
Work it out
Today, I went to my gym and tried a new workout machine that had just been installed. I set the weight too high and ended up stuck halfway through a lift, making weird struggling noises. Most people around me stopped and stared as I awkwardly dropped the weights. FML
Leg day
Today, I walked into the gym to do legs and walked up to the leg press machine where a trainer was taking weights off. I asked him if he was about to use the machine and he gave me an odd look and said no, then walked back to his client who was in a wheelchair. FML
Pump it up
Today, I'd signed up to try a workout class at the gym. However, as soon as the instructor started the class, I realized it was much more intense than I had anticipated. I ended up passing out and had to be carried out of the class by the instructor. FML

Why be ashamed? You were in the gym and actively working on yourself? That is reason enough to be proud.

Don't be ashamed OP. No matter what people say or think about you, just keep going. There will come a day when you'd look hot as hell :)

I totally agree with you. Why be shame when you're at the gym doing better than those who are still stuck on the couch? But like, have you ever had this happen to you? It's not THAT easy to correct someone by saying "no I'm not pregnant, I'm chubby" or whatever. I know OP should be proud because going to the gym is great. But at the same time, it's difficult to deal with the situation when it actually does happen. I'm just saying I can understand why OP felt that way. I've never been mistaken for pregnant before. But I have been mistaken for other things, and yes it is embarrassing :

I wore a slightly tighter top than normal and my ex's family asked me if I was pregnant, you feel multiple things when asked that. I had to reassure them by saying "no, I'm just fat" but it wasn't the easiest thing to admit. OP was in the gym doing exercise presumably to lose their belly, the trainer should've asked first instead of assuming. Also there is nothing wrong with working out when pregnant, you just have to be more careful and change it up a bit so you don't harm yourself or the baby.

how was the trainer to know how far allong the ptegnancy is? theres a. lot of bigger people who have kids and you cant really tell

It is never acceptable to ask a woman if she is pregnant. There are many women out there that have issues that can help with weight gain and make it hard to get pregnant, so by assuming they are pregnant, you are reminding them that they are fat and pushing the issue that they may not be able to get pregnant. They could have just had a miscarriage, or a still born, and you just reminded them again. They could also just be fat because of an unhealthy life style, but especially if they are in a gym, pointing it out in that way could discourage them as it did in this instance.

Because we've had it drilled into our heads 50x a day that being fat is something to be ashamed of 24/7, because some people still think shaming people is the best motivator for losing weight instead of the fact that it's actually the opposite - lack of self esteem encourages unhealthy habits, self esteem encourages healthy habits.

I would've slapped tha taste out his mouth & told him I'm not pregnant. that's disrespectful.

You have joined a gym for a reason and I think that fml tells people why! Why are you ashamed OP? Work hard and look fit! Best of luck

Don't be ashamed. Besides, with it being a fitness trainer you could have told the truth and gotten some tips on how to make the best of your time spent in the gym for best results. Never be ashamed of wanting to better yourself

Don't turn away from a good work out. Where I live we only have one gym, so you see all sorts of people who are proud (even if fat) that they are bettering themselves

That's when you break into song. "I'm not pregnant, I'm just fat"

"I'm not pregnant; you're just rude."

Go you for going to the gym! It's so hard to stay motivated especially when you feel like you're not making progress but keep it up. The difference 1 month will make!

Ok, this goes to everyone that are ashamed to work out in gyms: (professional) trainers love to help! The fact that you're at the gym is a humongous step forward. You should have just said the truth.. I understand that it would have been embarrassing..but could have been funny. Anyway, hang there and make fat cry!

no need to ashamed of as long as you promise to keep working on yourself, soon you will be in shape.

First of all, you shouldn't be ashamed. You are choosing to improve yourself and trying to get healthy. Second, it strikes me as strange behaviour coming from a fitness trainer because surely there must be many overweight people he must have encountered. Seems odd to me... And don't change your gym!

14, I feel SO bad for your friend. That's got to really suck.
