Today, I was wearing a letterman jacket that had my school name and "Okinawa Japan" on the back. A high school kid walks up to me and says, "I can't forgive you people for bombing Pearl Harbor." I'm black. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I wore my high school letterman jacket while I was out shopping. A man saw me and muttered to his wife about how sad it is some adults can't grow up and continue to wear their high school paraphernalia, constantly trying to relive their senior year. I am a senior. FML
Today, we had to discuss our heritage at school. When I told the class that I'm German, Japanese, and of the Jewish faith, my teacher laughed at the "irony." Something like this always happens whenever I tell people my background. FML
Today, I went to my high school reunion. I was super excited to see what everyone had done in their lives. The nerdy guy I bullied is now a U.S. Marine and already has two deployments in Afghanistan under his belt. He looked at me in his dress blues and said, "I remember you." FML
Today, I became the town racist for saying "black" instead of "African-American". I'm black. FML
Today, it was my high school graduation. Because our school colors were red, black and white, and our principal looked somewhat like Hitler, the senior class prank was to salute him when he finished his speech. I was the only one. FML
Today, I argued with a boy from school over a girl. I didn't know he was a black belt judoka. I'm still in pain. FML
Today, I was at a party. Everyone was drunk, and I happened to overhear someone say, "Where's that guy in the black jacket? I'm going to beat his ass!" I wouldn't have thought anything of it, had I not been the only one wearing a black jacket. FML
Today, I got hit on. By a high school kid. Who looks exactly like Napoleon Dynamite. That was the only time anyone has ever hit on me. FML
Today, I went to a veterans' reunion party with my grandpa. While there, a guy started yelling at me for having an unapproved haircut. It was my grandpa's old drill sergeant, and he thought I was in the army too. Everyone just smirked as he forced me to drop and do push-ups. FML
Today, my great grandfather got arrested. Why? He is still shell shocked from World War II, so when we went to a hibachi grill, he didn't want any of those, "Damn Japs" to touch his food, and our chef didn't take too kindly to his verbal assault. FML

Random fact: my mom's side of the family is from Okinawa, and my mom's uncle was a kamikaze pilot during the pearl harbor attack.

I don't know who told you that your mom's uncle was a kamikaze pilot during pearl harbor, but they were mistaken. The first Kamikaze attacks weren't launched until three years after pearl harbor, out of desperation as they lost air superiority, due to their aircraft becoming outdated and a lack of skilled pilots due to heavy losses during the war.

Just because one died in the Pearl Harbor attack does not make them a Kamikaze Pilot. In the attack on Pearl Harbor, a Japanese pilot's plane was damaged, so with no hope of making it back to his carrier, he deliberately crashed his plane into a hanger on Hickam Field. At this time in the war there were no official or organized kamikaze attacks or pilots. They were not organized until late 1944. It would make no sense for the Japanese, who had smaller numbers and finite resources, to deliberately destroy their prized air force. They had the element of surprise, superior airplanes, and highly skilled pilots. Pearl was mainly attacked with bombs and torpedoes. The first Kamikaze attacks were at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines in October 1944. Purpose-built Kamikaze planes (Tsurugi's, Ohkas etc) were first used in March 1945. So while your uncle might have died, he wasn't likely a Kamikaze pilot.
