Today, I was wearing a letterman jacket that had my school name and "Okinawa Japan" on the back. A high school kid walks up to me and says, "I can't forgive you people for bombing Pearl Harbor." I'm black. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I wore my high school letterman jacket while I was out shopping. A man saw me and muttered to his wife about how sad it is some adults can't grow up and continue to wear their high school paraphernalia, constantly trying to relive their senior year. I am a senior. FML
Today, we had to discuss our heritage at school. When I told the class that I'm German, Japanese, and of the Jewish faith, my teacher laughed at the "irony." Something like this always happens whenever I tell people my background. FML
Run for the hills!
Today, I went to my high school reunion. I was super excited to see what everyone had done in their lives. The nerdy guy I bullied is now a U.S. Marine and already has two deployments in Afghanistan under his belt. He looked at me in his dress blues and said, "I remember you." FML
Today, I became the town racist for saying "black" instead of "African-American". I'm black. FML
Today, it was my high school graduation. Because our school colors were red, black and white, and our principal looked somewhat like Hitler, the senior class prank was to salute him when he finished his speech. I was the only one. FML
Today, I argued with a boy from school over a girl. I didn't know he was a black belt judoka. I'm still in pain. FML
Today, I was at a party. Everyone was drunk, and I happened to overhear someone say, "Where's that guy in the black jacket? I'm going to beat his ass!" I wouldn't have thought anything of it, had I not been the only one wearing a black jacket. FML
Today, I got hit on. By a high school kid. Who looks exactly like Napoleon Dynamite. That was the only time anyone has ever hit on me. FML
Today, I went to a veterans' reunion party with my grandpa. While there, a guy started yelling at me for having an unapproved haircut. It was my grandpa's old drill sergeant, and he thought I was in the army too. Everyone just smirked as he forced me to drop and do push-ups. FML
Class act
Today, my great grandfather got arrested. Why? He is still shell shocked from World War II, so when we went to a hibachi grill, he didn't want any of those, "Damn Japs" to touch his food, and our chef didn't take too kindly to his verbal assault. FML

You should have said (if he was white) "I can't forgive you people for slavery."

This whole ignorant american hick thing is getting out of hand. There's a problem with being too isolated. Like relating to people who didn't grow up in the same dirt road village.

@49 your comment is pretty offensive. I grew up and still live in a small backwoods Texas town. Not now or ever have I been 'taught to be a racist'. You are no better than the original offender in the FML, stereotyping every 'hick' to be a racist. The south isn't really anything close to how it's portrayed in the moves, I can't speak of anywhere else, but I seriously doubt much of it is accurate.

It depends on who you talk to. Having been to the South, I have had wonderful experiences with people there. However, like ever town, city, country, and racial group, there will be some ignorant and stupid people who make the others look bad. There are still many people in the town my aunt lives in that view blacks as ignorant and unworthy of real jobs or respect. I have seen a 13 year old boy call an old woman a "n*gger" and his father patting him on the back for it. I have also seen many interracial couples, who have beautiful, happy, healthy children and claimed they never heard a bad word in the small, "hick" town they grew up in.

Remind him that first your black and second that America bombed Japan not once but twice. Flipping people not knowing the full history these days.

Also take into account that was after Japan attacked the US...Know your history before you try to teach it

really...I think both were terrible acts and neither side is better than the other in the end. They can say they dont forgive them for pearl harbor then the japanese can say that they cant forgive us for bombing them either. In my personal opinion, I think Hiroshima was worse. Some people are still suffering from those effects to this day.
BrianWinter 1
Well those two could have probably been avoided if pearl harbor hadn't happened, but knowing America we would've probably ended up doing it for another reason anywho.

In your position i don't know what would feel worse, being said something like that or to realise that ppl around you are that stupid
rooneygirl420 13
The stupidity of some people doesn't cease to amaze me. My brother was born in Okinawa and kids in school would ask us if he was Japanese. We're white. So I totally understand dealing with morons like that.
kder0aeon 9
well technically isn't your brother Japanese since he was born there? I'm assuming he received a Japanese birth certificate.
WhisperSoflty 20
119, it's very possible that they're "navy brats" who's parent was stationed in Oki. The brother was probably born on base, which is considered American soil, so he would have received a US birth certificate.
rooneygirl420 13
135 - you're right. Our father was a Marine
rooneygirl420 13
119 - if a Hispanic is born in the US, he or she is a US citizen. That doesn't change his/her ethnic background. So even if my brother was a Japanese citizen, which he isn't (see #135's reply to your post), that doesn't change the fact that he's white, not Japanese/of Asian heritage

My high school is in Okinawa Japan!!!!

"YDI" for not realizing there are black people in Japan - yes black Japanese people....(you're being ignorant racially as well - about our own history)

@61, Just because black people were there, doesn't mean that he was one of them. A black man born in africa from a family only every in africa, doesn't have 'history' in japan on the basis of also being black.

You people are idiots, the fact that he's a different color had nothing to do with the kids comment. It's because he's an American. Bitches like y'all, who throw out the race card for every little thing, are what's wrong with this country

... And this is exactly why I have lost faith in humanity.
