Today, I was so engrossed in a phone call that I drove off without pumping gas after I'd prepaid $50. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I stopped at the gas station to fill up my tank and get some snacks. I paid the cashier, then got back into my car, totally forgetting to pump the $50 worth of fuel I'd just prepaid for. Too bad I didn't realize until my car came to a sputtering stop about a mile down the road. FML
Today, I went to the gas station, paid the clerk, and drove off without pumping any gas. FML
Today, I was pumping gas, when my daughter called me. After I hung up, I put my phone on the car roof while I grabbed my bag. I completely forgot about it and only realized when it shot off the roof as I braked at a traffic light. FML
Today, when paying for gas, I realized I'd forgotten my wallet back home. After a moment of panic, I managed to remember my card number. I paid, blowing the cute cashier's mind, and drove away, before my car started sputtering and slowed to a crawl. I'd used the wrong fuel. FML
Beep beep
Today, I took my partner’s car to fill with gas because mine was in the shop. Out of habit, I put diesel into the tank. We discovered it three hours later; the tow bill ate my weekly budget, the mechanic sighed through the repair estimate, and I spent the evening on hold with roadside help. FML
Not the only the only thing that's empty
Today, my daughter called me panicking that her car died in the middle of the road. I had to FaceTime her to talk her through calling a tow truck. Turns out she ignored the warning lights telling her that the tank was low and drove it until the tank was empty. I had to pay for that, plus the tow fees. FML
Today, I had to drive down to my parents' house. On they way down, I needed to fill up on gas but unfortunately I'd forgotten my wallet at home with all of my cash and credit cards. I then had to call triple A and explain to them in all seriousness how I ran out of gas at the gas station. FML
Another fine mess
Today, while pumping gas, I stopped to think about what a failure my life is, and how badly I've treated people in my past. While deep in thought, I accidentally pulled the gas pump out too far and covered myself with gasoline. FML
In this economy?!
Today, I was at the gas station with my grandma. After I slid her card and began to pump, I convinced her that it was a lot easier and more convenient to pay at the pump with your credit card instead of paying inside. She yelled as I realized I went $20 over what she had to spend. FML
You dipstick!
Today, while getting gas, a hottie pulled-up to the pump next to me. I finished filling my tank and started to drive away. As I was checking her out and paying no attention to my driving, I ended up taking the front bumper off her car with my truck. FML

That's why you don't talk on your phone at the gas station.

I work at a gas station. there's been several people drive off without getting their gas. luckily for them when they do come to get it. I remember them and remember to void their gas payment so no one else can get it.

Maybe with the drop in buying power money just doesn't mean much

You idiot! On second thought, I'll follow you to the next gas station. What's your # again?

If OP prepaid, then that most likely meant they went inside to pay a clerk for their gas, and was on the phone during said transaction. As a gas station clerk myself, and having experienced this kind of customer way too many times to count, I have to say they deserved it. Sure, it does suck for them, but they still deserved it.

It was a bad day for you but it was a great day for the person using your $50.

Don't feel bad, I have done that before when my baby wouldn't quit screaming in his carseat- My husband did that while talking to me on the phone once too.
