Today, my friend explained to me that the toilet paper in his bathroom is "just for show." Now I know why his hamper smells like shit. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste

Today, I discovered my new boyfriend doesn’t have toilet paper. He has a toilet cloth, which he instructed me to rinse off in the toilet after I was done. FML
Today, I was drying myself with a towel after a shower when I noticed a bad smell. After running out of toilet paper last night, one of my friends decided to use my clean towel to wipe herself instead. FML
Today, I walked into my bathroom, only to find no toilet paper and a piece of shitty wallpaper in the bowl. FML
Today, after a day, I finally noticed that the toilet paper I'd been using to wipe my butt is actually a roll of paper towel cut in half. My dad thinks that it's a waste of money to buy proper paper. Guess who had to unclog the toilet twice. FML
Good one, thanks
Today, I took a dump at work, when I realized there was no toilet paper left. There was another guy in the room, so I asked him for some. He decided he'd rather dump all the rolls of paper into the other toilets, before wishing me luck and walking out while laughing his ass off. FML

Today, I went to the bathroom at my boyfriend's house. Right as I sat down and started taking a dump, I looked over at the empty toilet paper roll and remembered his roommate had told us the night before that they were out of toilet paper. FML
Today, my friend was extremely constipated when he used my toilet. I'm now having to go buy a new toothbrush, because he used mine to dig out his shit. FML
That's rank
Today, I took a piece of toilet paper to blow my nose and had a surprise: someone in our house seems to not have understood how TP works. In this case, the principle that it shouldn't stay on the roll once there is poo on it. FML
Today, I found out that boyfriend doesn't think he needs to wipe his ass after he shits if he's going straight in the shower because he can just "clean it up in there". We share a loofah. FML
Today, I grabbed a fresh hand towel from the drawer in the bathroom. I wiped my hands and noticed they smelled like shit. My 6-year-old had wiped poo from his finger onto the dark grey towels. I guess he sometimes helps the poo out. Good to know. FML

If it were my friend, I would tell them to wash the clothes and seek a therapist (not an insult) as it could be a sign of deeper problems...

Could be a culture thing. There are some places in Mexico where they don’t have good enough water pressure to use toilet paper so they have to use the wastebin.

There are many places where the sewer system can't handle the load of lots of paper, but you still _use_ paper even though you don't flush it. Sounds like this guy has paper just for _show_, and his dirty underwear thus gets fairly smelly.

I just realized they said hamper and not garbage can/bin. That’s my fault

In Asia (parts of Asia anyway) wiping s... around your a.. with a piece of paper is considered disgusting. Instead you wash - and then maybe wipe off the clean water with some paper. A combination of not washing and not wiping might be considered rather gross everywhere.

Your mission; sneak a plumber into your friend's house to install one of those hi-tech Japanese bidet-toilets.

You know they start at around $5,000.00 US and get more expensive depending upon the programmable upgrades. Some are smart enough to recognize every member of the family and remember their preferences like what temperature you like the seat heated to, how you like the angle and water pressure of the bidet set, what fragrance you prefer it to spray to hide the poop smell, every individuals playlist . . . even a white noise option design to hide the sound of your pee hitting the water or any noises you might make when pooping so no one knows that you went in to actually use the facilities. Culturally many Japanese are very embarrassed by anyone, even family hear them make noise while sitting on the toilet to poop or pee. On the other hand walking into a public bath with 20 or more completely naked strangers is no big deal. Except for my 2 year old niece who totally freaked and yelled at the top of her lungs for her Daddy to come rescue her. Everyone in the hotel could hear this little girl scream No! No! No! Help! Daddy Help Me! Help! over and over again until a hasty retreat was made. The next day it was decided she would go to the Men's bath with her brother, Dad and Uncle. She screamed the exact same thing as the previous day except she yelled for Mommy to come rescue her instead of Dad! She had never seen a bath bigger than the standard US one at their home in Texas and had never had to take a bath with so many strangers. I totally sympathized with her.

I once had a boyfriend who did that and I was beyond disturbed. My relationship with him did not last. THEN I knew another guy like that. I have no idea why there are people like this. I’m sorry you’re experiencing that in a friend.

Bit grim. But if he is a friend, then perhaps try talk to him and (without mocking or shaming him) explain that it'd be better for him to actually use it. For his own benefit hygienically and that of his future partners (and even future family - does he wasn't his kids to go to school stinking of crap?). Doesn't have to be a big in depth conversation. Just a 'Hey look, I was thinking about what you said and...' etc.
