Today, I had to drive down to my parents' house. On they way down, I needed to fill up on gas but unfortunately I'd forgotten my wallet at home with all of my cash and credit cards. I then had to call triple A and explain to them in all seriousness how I ran out of gas at the gas station. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Almost made it
Today, I was sitting at home when I remembered that I desperately needed gas for my car. On my way there, I prayed that my car would make it the whole way, and was thankful when I pulled up to the pump, because I knew my car wouldn't go any further. Then I realized I left my wallet at my house. FML
Today, when paying for gas, I realized I'd forgotten my wallet back home. After a moment of panic, I managed to remember my card number. I paid, blowing the cute cashier's mind, and drove away, before my car started sputtering and slowed to a crawl. I'd used the wrong fuel. FML
Time to push
Today, I left the house to DoorDash and remembered that I forgot to get gas last night. I had just enough gasoline to make it to Costco for better prices. It wasn’t until I pulled in that I realized I'd left my wallet at home. I have approximately two miles of gas left. FML
Today, I pulled into the gas station to fill up only to realize I had forgot my wallet. By the time I went home, got it, and came back, the price had gone up eleven cents. FML
Today, I left my wallet on top of my car when I filled up with gas. I drove away and didn't realize it until I got home. I went back and found it on the side of the road. Empty of my credit cards, pictures and checks. All that was left was my driver's license. FML
Today, I stopped at the gas station to fill up my tank and get some snacks. I paid the cashier, then got back into my car, totally forgetting to pump the $50 worth of fuel I'd just prepaid for. Too bad I didn't realize until my car came to a sputtering stop about a mile down the road. FML
Today, I went to the store to buy some groceries. Several hours later I realize that I can't find my wallet. After looking all over my house and then the store parking lot, I had my credit cards cancelled. On the drive home, I feel something under me. It was my wallet. FML
Today, I was sent to a customer's house to switch out a washing machine. My boss had assured me that everything I'd need was already in the truck. Halfway there, I ran out of gas and I realized I didn't have the gas card. My boss says it's my fault. FML
Genius mode
Today, I pulled into a parking lot, for the car to simply shut off because I ran out of gas. Then I couldn't get the key out of the ignition, so I called my dad, who walked all the way to where I was, only to find out that the car was still in drive. FML
Today, I was standing in the gas station, pulling out my wallet to pay the $100 of gas I just filled my car with. I opened my wallet and found a note saying "borrowed money for food". FML

Innocent mistake, OP. Hopefully you made it out without further complications - running out of fuel is my biggest fear oddly enough. I can only imagine the embarrassment!

Could you not have walked home to get your wallet? Or called someone?

Depends how far away from the gas station he lives. He could've been driving for hours before stopping for all we know.

I agree! This happened to me and it was so scary! But the last line of the fml was so funny; at least you can laugh about it now :)

Don't worry about it, OP. I'll bet it made that day memorable.

I hope they were helpful? Always have some spare cash or a card somewhere secure and private in your car. I hope they didn't charge you.

At least you remembered your phone :)

I pack emergency cash wherever I go. However, it usually is spent on jelly bears.

How crazy this is. I'm actually in a similar situation at this moment. Let my mind that I needed gas and right now on the side of the highway waiting for AAA. Have money for the gas station but not the means to get there lol.

No one in your family could have wired you the money for gas until you could pay them back?

OP didn't have their credit/debit cards or anything else kept in a wallet on them, so family wiring money wouldn't exactly help in this situation.

That why yo keep an emergency $20 in your sunglasses holder?
