Today, I was pumping gas, when my daughter called me. After I hung up, I put my phone on the car roof while I grabbed my bag. I completely forgot about it and only realized when it shot off the roof as I braked at a traffic light. FML

Today, I put my phone on top the car while putting my daughter in her car seat. Told myself not to forget it. Then I drove away, and it flew off the top of the car on the freeway. It got ran over. FML
Today, I left my phone on the roof of my car after pumping gas. I drove off, and it wasn't until I heard a thud that I realized what had happened. Now my phone has a gash in the screen, and it's receiving angry texts from my girlfriend that I can't answer. FML
Today, I was so engrossed in a phone call that I drove off without pumping gas after I'd prepaid $50. FML
Today, it wasn't until I heard something fly off the roof of my car and hit the trunk, then asphalt, that I remembered where I left my phone while unlocking the car door. FML
Today, I forgot my phone on the roof of my car. I took a 30 minute drive from my friend's city to my city. I got on to my driveway, surprised to see my phone still there. Thinking I'm really lucky, I pick up my phone. Then, I trip over a pebble, cracking my phone in the process. FML
Today, my daughter called me panicking that her car died in the middle of the road. I had to FaceTime her to talk her through calling a tow truck. Turns out she ignored the warning lights telling her that the tank was low and drove it until the tank was empty. I had to pay for that, plus the tow fees. FML
Today, while driving, I realized I had left my phone on top of my car when I was getting in. Panicking, I drove back to look for it. I found it in the middle of the street, still intact. Yay! When I went back to my car, I noticed I had locked my door, and the keys were in the ignition. FML
Today, while pumping gas, I stopped to think about what a failure my life is, and how badly I've treated people in my past. While deep in thought, I accidentally pulled the gas pump out too far and covered myself with gasoline. FML
Today, I was at the gas station pumping gas when the lady in front of me had a little boy who asked if he could pump the gas. She said yes and then quickly answered her phone, as it was ringing. She wasn't watching him and he pulled out the pump to early, spraying gas all over me, including my face. FML
Today, I stopped at the gas station to fill up my tank and get some snacks. I paid the cashier, then got back into my car, totally forgetting to pump the $50 worth of fuel I'd just prepaid for. Too bad I didn't realize until my car came to a sputtering stop about a mile down the road. FML

Where I'm from there are signs all over the petrol station saying "No use of mobile phone near bowser" etc... So I say YDI.

Actually perdix I do believe Best Buy has a warranty that covers everything that may happen to you electronics. Even if the damage is your fault. So if op Bought the phone from there and got the warranty she could get a new phone. Also, hobos, it is just a myth, a fairly old myth, that talking on cell phones while pumping gas can cause an explosion. People talk on cell phones every day while getting gas. It is smoking next to a gas pump that is bad. Can't decide between fyl an ydi, because seriously who hasn't left something on the roof of the car at some point - usually coffee or some other drink. But I would suggest op invest in a belt clip for the phone or keep it in her pocket.

Using a cell phone while pumping gas will not kill anyone of ignite gas fumes and make a fire nor will smoking a cigarette and pumping gas. You can throw a cigarette in a bucket of gas and it will just go out. Gas needs to be vaporized to ignite like that with a spark you can't just ignite gas with heat...

I did that once. Coming home from football practice, I place my phone on the top of the bumper. Luckily, it stayed there.
