Today, I'm so broke after paying my bills, that I resorted to eating plain garlic butter from the pizzeria down the street for lunch. The worst part: to get the butter, I stormed in and angrily complained, saying they forgot to give it to me. I never even ordered a pizza. FML
Today, I was so hungry and broke that I resorted to drinking salad dressing. FML
Today, I'm so broke, I walked into a nursing home and pretended to be a gentleman's son just so I could get some free food "for him". FML
Today, I went to the Cheesecake Factory and treated myself to an appetizer, an entree, a dessert, and some cocktails. The bill was higher than I expected and I was $50 short. I faked having a food allergy and had the staff call 911 so they could take me to the hospital, so I would get out of paying. It worked. FML
Today, I was hungry and I was trying to buy the cheapest burger at Wendy's, but I'm so broke that I had to call my friends to lend me some money. Ugh. FML
Today, I was so desperate for someone to talk to I called various restaurants pretending to be interested in ordering food, just so I could have a conversation. I called eleven different places. FML
Today, just like the past 2 weeks, I'm so broke that I only got to eat dinner because I went on a first date with a guy from Tinder. FML
Today, for breakfast, I made a butter sandwich. I'm that broke. FML
Today, I was so ashamed of being broke that instead of asking my parents for money, I snuck into their house while they were at work to steal some of their food. FML
Today, I ate out, even though I was tired. When my main course arrived, I realised I had sent both my forks away with the starter plate. Rather than say anything, I ate dinner with two knives. FML

Yep 61 is right you order then get salad and breadsticks, which are very warm and delicious btw. OP could've ordered a salad or something though and the breadsticks came with them

Agreed on the good idea, and hell yes it's worth it. Free usually is, even for the price of a little dignity. I would have just made sure I left the server at least buck for dealing with me and for taking up their table for what was probably an unnecessarily long amount of time. If even one dollar is too much to spare, I think it's time for a little life reevaluating.

Differs depending upon where you are, but servers make like $2.50 or so and then tips. In Georgia the minimum wage is 7$.25 currently.

Your life sucks, but that was pretty smart! You can also go to McDonald's and say your name is in the book for a free meal credit due to a past mix up, or call ahead and complain to them. I've hit rock bottom a few times :p
