Today, I was riding my bike with my parents. They make me wear a helmet when I'm with them. Some college age kids drove past and yelled, "Nice helmet!" My mother then told me, "They like you!" I'm sixteen and my helmet is blue. With flowers. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to an amusement park with my family. A couple of cute girls started talking to me, telling me how much they liked my dreads. Seeing this, my mother stepped up next to me, patted me on the shoulder, and said, "This here is my little baby, treat him nicely!" Thanks, Mom. FML
Safety first
Today, my mother finally pressured me to wear my old helmet while riding my bike. Halfway through my ride, 3 spiders came crawling out of it and onto my face, causing me to lose control of the bike and crash head-first. FML
Confused
Today, I was out shopping with my mom. While we were walking, a guy in a car honked at me. I'm not used to compliments, so I was pretty flattered and flashed him a smile. He looked back at me, confused, then shook his head and pointed at my mom. FML
Today, I was complimented on my hat by two different people. I wasn't wearing a hat. FML
Today, I found out while skiing that my dad likes to call me Pimple because I have a pink coat and white helmet. He has tried to squeeze me. FML
Today, a guy from work that I barely know gave me sunflowers for my birthday. He told me, "You mentioned they were your favorite." I mentioned it to my family at home a few days ago. FML
Today, I was volunteering at a school, as I walked past the swings these two girls smiled and said "wow, you are so pretty!". I smiled back and said "awww, well thank you!." As I walked past I hear them laughing, "she actually believed us." FML
Mostly OK
Today, I told my parents how grateful I am for having them in my life and that not many kids are as lucky as me. My mom texted me after I went out 10 minutes later: "Are you OK? You seemed depressed earlier." FML
Today, I was showing my 6-year-old son how easy and safe it is to ride a bike. I didn't notice a pebble, bust up my leg, and my son is now terrified of bicycles. FML
Dad jokes FTW!
Today, my father and I were out in town when a lady walked up and commented on what a great looking couple we were. My dad puts his arm around me and says, "Thank you! We've been together for 17 years." FML

At least you are being safe... I had a friend die because he wasn't wearing a helmet. your parents are smart.

As much as I personally would like a blue helmet with flowers, I understand. I'm a college kid, and I'm willing to risk brain injury than be seen using a helmet on campus.

#13-Some people are saying YDI, because the OP could easily have bought a different helmet that doesn't make them look 5. They do have plain colored ones.

retarded:: slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress (Miriam-Webster) It is a slang term that equates what one would judge as stupidity or lameness with tragically debilitating disabilities, and refers not only to autism, but to all mental and emotional impairments, and is just about the most tasteless term you could use. So grow up. And OP, YDI for giving a shit what people who yell out of cars think.

If you're under 18, it's the law to wear a helmet. And all you people saying you'd rather have a head injury than wear a helmet, I hope it happens to you.

#43 at least in the state i grew up in you don't have to wear a helmet once you're 16 so i guess it depends where this took place. That being said, its still a good idea to wear one though... you probably should have gotten one you liked rather than the one you were wearing and clearly hated. Therefore, YDI.

Assuming you live in a place where cars tend to rule the street it's just smart to wear a helmet. I used to think they were way lame too, but sometimes you just need to embrace "uncool" things to be safe. So, as has been said just get a new helmet and make it your own. paint it, add stickers make it something you won't be embarrassed to wear, but definitely wear one.

You have to be over 18 yrs before you can choose not to wear a helmet. Suck it up princess.

Who gives a shit? I'm a biker, and I know how badly a fall without a helmet can mess a person up, permanently! YDI for being a whiner about preventing brain damage! Seriously.

lol what an asshole you are. your parents are trying to protect you from getting a brain injury. people who don't wear helmets are just asking for trouble. natural selection, i suppose :)
