Today, I was informed I wouldn't be getting a raise because I hadn't followed the updated protocol. I said I was unaware that there was an updated protocol. My supervisor said, "That's because we didn't tell you about it." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Get out
Today, I was given my marching orders because I corrected my supervisor on something he was actually doing wrong. It seems I deserve this for "not learning to obey my immediate superiors." FML
Never question upper management!
Today, I told my supervisor that I would have appreciated more oversight when running an advanced protocol for the first time recently. I'm now doing remedial basic training, for reduced pay and benefits, and my probationary status is "extended indefinitely." FML
Management balls-up
Today, I was fired for not completing the required computer training, which no one told me about. I was told that it's my responsibility to check it every week. It would have been nice if a single one of my supervisors had given me any indication whatsoever that this was the case. FML
Supervision
Today, I was told by my manager to make sure the supervisor on shift does his job. Last month I was told I couldn't be a supervisor. Apparently I can supervise someone who earns more than I do though. FML
Wait your turn
Today, I found out I’m not getting a raise, despite my ‘outstanding’ performance, since the company made a loss this year. Last year I didn’t get a raise because of COVID uncertainty. The year before that I didn’t get a raise because I only just got ‘promoted’, where I also didn’t get a raise. FML
Computer says no
Today, I was notified that the company did not give me a raise two months ago like I thought. The increase was a typo. Two months ago I wrote a thank you for the raise email to my boss. Now I get to write a check to the company to pay back my "raise." FML
Today, I met with my boss hoping to hear about a possible raise that had been promised many months ago. He then told me that the only way I would get a raise was if I found a better paying job and took it, and that the company was in no position to offer anyone a raise. FML
Today, I arrived at work and was immediately given a disciplinary write-up for being two hours late for my shift. Apparently the manager had changed my schedule that morning and failed to tell me. FML
Today, I was fired for not attending a mandatory meeting. I confronted my boss and told her I never heard anything about it, she told me that daily reminders had been sent out via email for weeks. She then discovered that she failed to enter my email address in the system. I was still fired. FML
Can't be bothered
Today, my boss said he was giving me a significant raise. After he requested the payroll department to raise my salary they informed him he needed to fill out a one-sheet form. He took my raise away because he didn't want to fill the sheet out. FML

This is why Human Resources departments are necessary.

keep your chin up OP, maybe look for a new job discreetly or double down on your commitment to get a raise and ask again in 3 months
Glaceia 10
If they won't bother telling OP about the updated protocol, do you really think that they won't try pulling another fast one if OP does trying doubling down their effort? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Human resources department is why these things happen. It's usually them who come up with these ideas. Never forget.. HR exists to protect the company, not the humans who are just resources.

This is why workers organize and vote for unions

No. Human Resource positions were definitely made for the employees benefit. There's no real (evidence of?) conspiracy there, take it from me.

If you have a procedure that is necessary in order to get a raise or promotion then you probably have a HR department. Companies that don't have one just simply give you a raise or promotion without needing to jump through hoops for it.

Spoken like a dedicated HR stooge.

I hate people like this.

It's people like OP's supervisor that makes staff to dislike their jobs or not give their 100%.

First rule of ****** management, You should be aware of any updates whether told or not. First rule of common sense, Management is ****** up.

It's rigged! It's a rigged system! You should refuse to accept the results and steal office chairs and computers to give you the amount of the raise you deserved!

Some people are just born stupid.

I don't think it's really a matter of intelligence, so much as it is a matter of the manager being an asshole.
