Today, I was chatting online with a guy I really like, when he used the word "irregardless." I couldn't help but mention how little sense it makes, since it's a combination of two words meaning roughly the same thing. He replied, "lol what? your stupid." Jesus Christ. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was chatting to a co-worker, upon whom I have a serious crush. It was going really well, until he said "irregardless", as if it's actually a proper word. This grammatical abomination really ticks me off, and I actually had to fight back the urge to beat some damn sense into him. FML
Proper banter
Today, I was on a chat site and a couple of cute guys asked for my "ASL". I had no idea what that meant so I asked one of my cousins. He said it meant "asshole" and that they were calling me an asshole. So I cursed at everyone who was actually asking for my "age, sex and location." FML
Today, I yet again heard a friend say "YOLO" as if it's a word. It was so annoying that I had to restrain myself from punching him in the face and offering him the chance to suck on one of my turds, since apparently "YOLO." FML
Vocab test
Today, I was mentioning to a coworker how there was a huge lull today in business. A young coworker then turned to me and sead in a snooty tone, "I think you mean a 'lol', it's pronounced L-O-L." FML
Childish
Today, I was talking to a guy when he pointed behind me and said, “Hey, what’s that?” I looked behind me and he burst out laughing, saying he “can’t believe I’m so stupid that I still fall for that old trick.” We were having a conversation, not a physical fight. FML
Today, while talking to my boyfriend, he got upset and accused me of making up words to make him feel stupid. All because I used the word "vapid." FML
Today, I was talking to an attractive guy, but I was so nervous that I got tongue-tied and then blurted out, "Stupid autocorrect." FML
Dealbreaker
Today, I was talking online to this guy, and everything was great. He then sent a voice message and his accent was a deal breaker. FML
He does have a point
Today, I texted someone and typed, "lol". My boyfriend asked me why I put "lol". I told him because I thought it was funny. He looked at me weird and said, "But you didn't laugh." Now he thinks I'm weird because I didn't actually laugh out loud. FML
It means us! Look at us!
Today, at work I put myself squarely in the lame / old people category when I foolishly asked out loud what FML meant. FML

Some people just don't want to admit they're wrong.

Maybe he actually meant "with regard." Seeing how it would be a double negative. He could be the genius.

Stop with the English lessons. Not everyone speaks like Stephen Fry, and not everyone cares. Language changes and evolves all the time. You grammer nazis would have had Shakespeare shot for inventing new words.

Funny thing is that irregardless is recognized in the dictionary. So technically, you're wrong
Shrike 24
It's recognized as non-standard in most dictionaries. What's your point? What's she "wrong" about? Her only claim is that it doesn't make much sense. The word being in the dictionary doesn't change that. It's a bastard hybrid word that negates its own intended meaning.

Did the guy really say "lol" in his response? I sure as hell hope not.

I hate when people say that. I bet when he first messaged her, he asked if they could "conversate."

Clearly you understood him, so there was no need to correct him. You're not the most perfect being on Earth so stop taking opportunities to put yourself above people. Also, irregardless is in the dictionary, and many people learn to say that instead of regardless. I'm not saying it's correct, I'm saying that you can't call him an idiot for using it.

Maybe you don't like him as much as you thought if you couldn't stop yourself from taking a poke at him.
