Today, I picked out the perfect combination of clothes, making sure everything matched, before heading off to work. As soon as I walked into the office, my coworker asked, “Why are you wearing pajamas?” I had no idea that my "stylish" new pants were actually a pair of super baggy pajama bottoms. FML
Today, I was in a hurry to get to work and I put on yesterday's jeans. While at my meeting an employee asked me if 'that' was mine and pointed to something on the floor next to me. Which was yesterday's underwear. FML
Today, I greeted my boss with, "Looking good, did you lose weight?" He responded that no, he'd just purchased larger pants. FML
Today, I walked into our office and everyone started laughing. It turns out that I'd been the only one not in on the joke to come in dressed as a character from our favorite TV show. However, I'd dressed in normal work clothes. I’m the boss. FML
Today, I went to work in my best outfit for the big corporate party we were having later in the day. When I arrived, my boss said, "You missed one hell of a party yesterday!" Shit. FML
Today, I walked into work feeling confident in my new outfit. It wasn’t until lunchtime that a colleague pointed out the price tag hanging from my skirt. I’d been flaunting my ass's price all morning. FML
Today, I showed up to a meeting without my pants and had to pretend it was part of my outfit. FML
Today, I accidentally left the tag on the new pants that I wore to work. Nobody had brought it to my attention for the whole day until finally, before I was about to go home, every single employee and my boss let me know by yelling in unison and laughing as I left the building. FML
Today, I went to my retail job to buy some clothing. As soon as I walked through the doors, my manager yelled at me for not being in appropriate work clothes. I tried to explain that I was off the clock but he was having none of it. I got written up. FML
Today, my boss drove past me while I was walking to work, and splashing mud over my uniform. When I got to work, he criticized me for showing up in unpresentable condition. FML

YDI for obviously wearing something that was too casual for the workplace. I bet you're the kind of person who thinks leggings are the same thing as pants. I'd say you should take your boss's comment as a warning and step back and really evaluate your wardrobe in comparison to other co-workers. And don't get into any of that crap like, "I can dress however I want! Nobody can tell me what to do!" If you work in an office where a certain type of dress is required and if you want to eventually advance in that career path, your wardrobe needs to match the circumstances and your ambitions.

My dad asks me if I'm wearing pajamas but I'm wearing basketball shorts. People have their own style and if her office was really serious she would have at least thought about gosh you douche bag!

Wearing your 'jammies to work is almost never acceptable, even if the place allows casual dress. Basketball shorts are really pushing it in terms of casual dress, btw (it depends a lot on where you work). Though I'm not sure what the OP's job's dress code is and what the OP actually wore, but if her outfit resembled pajamas and the boss commented on it, then chances are it's probably inappropriate. Just because you *can* dress however you want, doesn't mean you *should.* Bottom line: Have an individual fashion sense on your own time. Work =/= Free Time.

At your age, it's still acceptable to wear a T-shirt and jeans (or in your case, the non-pants/leggings) to school and to dress in an overly casual manner. However, once you enter the real world beyond academia, I trust that one day even you will learn the value of a good suit and a nice button down. "People have their own style and if her office was really serious she would have at least thought about" People can have their own style, but when it borders on inappropriate for the workplace, then they need to step up their wardrobe. The company is not paying her to lounge around in her pajamas on their time. If they requested a specific dress code, the OP needs to meet it; she obviously isn't thinking about it if her boss made a comment to her. Also, it is possible to show personal style in an appropriate manner that other people can still respect. Dressing well doesn't mean that one's wardrobe is boring.
