Today, I walked into the kitchen and accidentally broke my mother's vase. I said, "Accidents happen." She replied, "Yeah, like your birth." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Slasher
Today, my mom bumped into a table with a glass vase on it. Seeing that the vase was about to fall, I lunged to catch it. Before I got there, the vase fell and shattered, resulting in me diving into the broken shards. FML
Today, I was feeling guilty about an argument I had with my mother right before she left to go shopping. When she got back, I ran to give her a hug and tell her I loved her. Unfortunately, in the process, I knocked over and broke her new $200 vase. FML
Pincushion
Today, I accidentally broke a vase. When I was clearing it up, I used my bare hand to sweep up the shards without thinking. I'm still fishing pieces of broken glass out of my hand. FML
Psycho
Today, I accidentally broke one of my mom’s favorite glasses while she was away. My dad saw and offered to tell her instead that he broke it, because, "let’s face it, if she knew it was you, she’d shove the glass shards down your fucking throat." FML
Jumpy
Today, my mom said my name and startled me so badly, I jumped and dropped the glass I was holding. She still isn’t speaking to me for breaking her favorite glass. FML
Two in one
Today, I accidentally crashed my mom's car into my dad's car. FML
Today, my mom and dad were arguing. It started getting really heated, so I tried to go break it up. But within a couple of minutes, my mom wanted to make a statement by throwing a plate to the ground, forgetting I was beside her. I now have a throbbing foot with shards of glass in it. FML
Today, I woke up and heard a noise coming from the kitchen. I went down stairs and saw a huge guy in there. I got a vase and hit him over the head, not realizing it was my mom's new boyfriend. FML
Falling down
Today, I learned how it feels like when you fall off a second floor balcony with mom's flower pot, landing on your back. My mom got pissed because of her beloved flowers, and gave me a lecture while I rolled on the ground in pain. FML
Today, I fell down the stairs while holding some dirty glasses from my room. I ended up pulling pieces of glass from my body. Meanwhile all my mom cares about is the fact that I broke three of her favorite glasses. FML

Well, that was an incredibly rude reply to breaking something that belonged to someone else.

Yeah, your first reaction should have been "I'm sorry," not "shit happens."

my god people....it was a ******* joke. My parents have made jokes like that since i was probably 13. I've also told them "wow you are a horrible parent" as a joke and stuff like that. It's all said in jest.

you should have apologized, but if your mom wasn't kidding, then she's kind of a bitch. just saying:]

Sorry that happened to you, maybe she was kidding?

She may not realize how hurtful this was. But I think parents should never, ever joke about this... (well, OK, except in The Simpsons because Homer is funny :bb).

I'm with number 5, you should have said you were sorry, not "accidents happen". Besides, I don't think what she said was mean at all. Most of us probably were accidents anyway :|

She was probably just PMS-ing, and really liked the vase.... I highly doubt she meant that. I've had my dad joke about that before, and we have a pretty good relationship. It doesn't bother me, because I know he's not serious. And in a sense, ALMOST EVERY BIRTH (except strict catholics who almost never have sex) is an accident! That doesn't mean she doesn't love you, appreciate you, and wasn't glad you were born. Lastly, it was horribly rude for her to say that, though. She should understand some kids take that SUPER seriously.... also, it was her and her hubby's fault (if ANYBODYS) that she got pregnant, via bad planning, bad condom, etc. You were simply an egg/sperm at that point. In the future, however: (IF you want to avoid hearing hateful things from your mom) I'd advise you apologize profusely if you break or hurt anything of anybody else's. Even if your mom loves you greatly, if you are a d*ck to people and are selfish and care about your stuff and nobody else's, or is careless and carefree and clumsy (NOT saying you do, but I HAD TO PUT THIS IN just in CASE you're like that)...... it would piss ANYBODY off to have to deal with that! :P hope it helps

My parents aren't strict anything but myself and my brother were planned... up until the actual time we were born to fit around my mum's work schedule. It's not that tricky to not have a baby when you don't want one.
