Today, I told my long-distance friend about the flooding in Florida due to the Supermoon. He's a Flat Earther and despite proof, denies the coincidence because he believes the moon and gravity aren't what we're taught. FML

What an idiot, if he was smart he would know the world is a cube.

It literally boggles my mind how folks can be this thick-headed. All the evidence, all the science--do they need to be strapped into a rocket and shot into space themselves?

A full moon does not affect its gravitational pull. The mass of the moon stays the same regardless of how much it is illuminated. It's or it is slightly elliptical, so it's position relative to the earth changes, which does influence the gravitational pull a small amount, but this can occur at any phase of the moon.

A supermoon refers to more than just phase.

A supermoon is a bit of a misnomer. Yes the moon is at its closest relative position to earth but it's not gonna look like it's gonna crash into us and it's not gonna change the gravitaional pull of the moon that much either.

Is your friend tila tequila?

what the Hell is a flat earther ?

Willfully ignorant people who think the Earth is flat like a sheet of paper.

And here I was hoping the flat-earth conspiracy theories were just an ongoing internet meme, and that no one is actually that dumb.

Never underestimate people's stupidity... ...Or the power of the dark side.

if only it got the whole thing

You should redefine the word friend.

Hand the moron a globe then sterilize them.

Flat earther? Dear god

your friend is an idiot

let's not forget water rising due to global warming as well. flooding in Florida isn't new, your slowly sinking

I live in Florida and heard nothing about flooding due to supermoons or otherwise... we had a cold front that had barely any rain associated with it... other than that, dry conditions...
