Today, I told my daughter that we were going to the beach. Today, my daughter also tried to dig up our deceased dog, who we buried in our back yard last week, so he could come along. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my dog died. My parents told me to bury it out back. In the process, I managed to dig up my cat. FML
Poor good boy
Today, my dog died. I spent ages digging him a grave and buried him in the garden so that my dad wouldn't have to deal with the stress when he got home from work. When my dad got home he told me that he had wanted the dog to be cremated. I have just had to dig up my dog's body. FML
Today, I was outside searching for "treasures" with my son using small plastic shovels. All of a sudden he starts screaming. He dug up the bones of our old dog. I told him that we had sent him away to live on a farm, I even helped my son write letters to the farm owners. FML
Today, my new dog unburied my old dog and chewed on his bones. FML
Traumatic
Today, I sent my kids to play in the back garden and immediately heard them screaming. We buried our dog last week and last night some animal dug her up and spread the bones and rotting flesh around. The stench was horrendous, the kids are traumatized, and I vomited while reburying the bits. FML
Today, I was babysitting my little cousin when we decided to go outside and have a "treasure hunt" in the backyard. The first thing we found? The bones of her pet dog who had passed away four years ago. FML
Today, I drunkenly buried my girlfriend's recently deceased cat. Later she asked to see it and came back inside crying. It turns out I didn't bury it completely and its two back legs were poking out of the dirt. FML
Who's a good boy? Not you.
Today, while walking my dog in a cemetery, she stole a stuffed animal off a child's grave and began to play with it. FML
Today, my dog died and I told my grandfather I wanted her to be cremated. I came home later to find him burning her in our barbecue pit. FML
RIP big dog
Today, I was supposed to bury my childhood dog at my mother's friend's place. I had to wake up at 5 a.m., spent two hours on the bus to be there in time, only for him to tell me that he'd actually buried my dog yesterday. FML

Depending on the age of your daughter, this could either be very sweet or extremely worrying.

That sounds like the start to a horror movie

I am so sorry. This reminds me of when they buried Hughes in FMA. His daughter kept asking how will daddy do his work if he's.under there. have you tried explaining that the doggy is very tired and wants to rest and that she shouldn't disturb him? kids don't really understand death all that well. I hope you all still had fun at the beach though.

Kids are very capable of understanding the concept of death at a very early age if you talk honestly and openly with them. My then two-year-old understood what it meant that his great-grandfather had died. He asked me about a year later if cats hated me. Turns out my mother had told him that my childhood cats had run far, far away and haven't come back yet. She didn't want to tell him that they had died years ago. When I told him what happened it made much more sense to him. Telling them stories of sleep or wonderland or home-in-the-clouds just confuse kids. The little ones are less scared to talk about death than most adults.

I personally still don't fully grasp death, I don't think anything does. if there is a heaven it's easier, but if there isnt. It's impossible to imagine nothing.

As long as their backyard doesn't turn out to be an ancient burial site the horror might be kept at bay.

Zombie dog at the beach. Your daughter may single handedly start the Zombie apocalypse.
