Today, I finally worked up the courage to tell my boyfriend that I wanted to go separate ways. Before I could say anything, he proposed. FML
Today, my boyfriend of 3 years announced that he is not ready for marriage, and won’t be for 'at least' another 2 years. Of course he waited to tell me this 2 days after he had proposed to me in front of hundreds of people, I said yes, and we announced it to all our family members and friends. FML
Today, I asked the person I love to commit to me. Instead, he packed his shit and moved out. FML
Today, I finally cracked and told my boyfriend that if he didn't sign full custody of his evil, manipulative 3 year-old daughter to her mother, then I would leave. He picked me up and literally threw me outside his apartment, slamming the door in my face when I tried to run back inside. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend of 5 years cheated on me and now has a 4 year old, and as he’s told me, we should get married. FML
Today, my boyfriend of two years proposed to me. Less than two minutes later, he decided he wasn't ready for the commitment. After I had already said yes. FML

I'm sorry that happened to you. Did y'all previously talk about your future? maybe he didn't want kids or he panicked when he was given a time limit. Again sorry to hear this as that was an extreme reaction.

I would be okay with the marriage thing but if my boyfrIend told me he wanted kids, I'd have to do the same. In a nicer way, though. That's pretty mean.

It's better you leave. Not everyone shares the same love for children and not everyone is ready to take on the responsibility of a child. Believe it or not but sticking with him won't do any good. Find someone much more stable and serious.

I'm really sorry this happened to you. I'm a guy, and I know personally how it feels to be told, "I wanna move out and get a house and get married and have kids within 5 years". I was 19 then. Chances are, if this guy is in college, that's going to look and feel like a REALLY tight timeframe, especially depending on his major. Not saying he was right or justified in his response, but just saying, it's not always 'commitment issues', but some guys just don't want a house and family until they're ready.

I completely understand how horrible it feels to have spent so much of your life with someone who has incompatible life goals, but you kind of completely deserve it. Three years after you started dating is far too long to go without having that discussion. Hell, you need to get a sense of what kind of life you want to have together after a few months, not years. Be more forthright next time, and maybe you won't have to deal with a major heartache.
