Today, I saw the guy I bullied during elementary school and tried to apologize to him. Instead, he took out a knife and stabbed me. I'm currently in the ER. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, some guy tried to rob me and I accidentally made him stab himself with his own knife. Now he gets a comfy ride to hospital, while I get to sit across from this grumpy desk sergeant, waiting for a lawyer to explain that I'm actually the victim in this scenario. FML
Today, I was assaulted and knocked out by a girl at school for talking to her boyfriend. I woke up in the emergency room. After she knocked me unconscious, she took a knife and carved her initials into my face. FML
Today, I bumped into a guy I bullied for years at a bar. He was actually cool and laughed about it, but my stupid drunk ass kept urging him to hit me because I felt bad about it. We went outside and he thrashed me. At least we're friends now, I guess… FML
Today, I finally confronted my bully. Too bad it was at my high school reunion and he beat the shit out of me. FML
Today, I woke up in the hospital with a mild concussion, a sprained neck, and a broken shoulder. How did this happen? Earlier, I ran into the guy I used to bully all throughout school. Once his wife realized who I was, she piledrived me. FML
Today, I was helping my friend wash dishes. As I went to grab some tongs to dry them, I impaled my forearm on a knife that was sticking blade up. My friend wanted to finish the dishes before taking me to the hospital. FML
Today, I was walking down the street, when I saw a guy in front of me trip and fall forwards, and I quickly jumped forward to steady him. Apparently he thought he was being mugged, and threw his head backwards into my face, leaving my nose a bloody mess. FML
Today, I finally stood up to the guy who's been bullying me for the last 2 years. Even though he's been caught in the act several times, he never gets punished, so I figured I'd get away with gut-punching him. Nope. An hour later, I was suspended from school. FML
Today, some guy on the street threatened to stab me. I called his bluff, and walked away. He wasn't bluffing. FML
Today, while on a haunted trail, I accidentally punched a high-schooler in the throat. FML

Bullying is damaging no matter how small or insignificant. While trying to apologize is an admirable thing to do and I praise you for it, it won't erase the days of pain that the victim has gone through. I'm hoping that you're safe and healing with the support of family and friends. And I hope that your attacker gets caught by the authorities and is given the help that they need.

Holy crap!! You know what? I was bullied a Hell of a lot in school - all the way up to my fourth year of college, in fact. If anyone had told me back then that my bullies didn't deserve to be stabbed, I'd have told them they were full of crap. The thing is, people change; their circumstances change. I lost a lot of confidence over the bullied years, but I gained it all back - and then some. It takes time, but the wounds do heal. Of course, the time required varies from person to person. A stabbing, however, or anything that puts someone's life at risk, is different. You can rebuild your confidence; you can rediscover your worth; but if you lose your life? You're not coming back from that. Kudos for realising and caring that what you did in the past was wrong, and for trying to make amends. It's more than I ever got. Still, if any of them did find me and apologise, I'm not quite sure how I would react - but my reaction would not involve a knife.
