Today, I saw selfies of my aunt and her friends on Facebook having a great time. They took the pictures at my mother's funeral last week. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Facebook's cesspit
Today, I mentioned on Facebook that I'll be out of town over the weekend, because I am attending my grandmother's funeral. I soon got comments saying "Pics or it didn't happen" and "Killed her for the inheritance, eh?" followed by a solitary "LOLLL". FML
RIP in peace
Today, I found out that my favorite aunt passed away. The funeral was last Thursday. FML
Today, I found out my grandfather died via Facebook, because apparently both my father and my aunt think posting a status about it immediately rather than calling family is the thing to do. FML
Today, I had to explain to my parents why it is inappropriate to take selfies at a funeral. FML
Today, I found out my aunt posted a picture of my butt in a bikini bottom on Facebook. I didn't even know she had taken that picture. FML
Without me
Today, I saw my mom's Facebook profile picture for the first time. It had all of my family members in it. I was cropped out. FML
Today, I was perusing my mom's Facebook when I noticed that she has an album of pictures for each member of the family. All except me. Even the dog has his own album. FML
Left out in the cold
Today, I checked Facebook, only to find out that my close cousin is now married. When I looked at the pictures, I saw that my whole family was there - including my sister, mother and father. I was the only one who wasn't invited. FML
Today, I was looking at my friend's dad's Facebook pictures because he recently posted a status update. I saw him at a bar with some ugly hooker that he was feeling up in almost every picture. After about 10 minutes of ridiculing and laughing at this ugly woman, I realize it's my mom in a wig. FML
Today, I've had so many family members die in the past 4 years, I now think of which pictures would look good at people's funerals when I look through photo albums. FML

That's seriously lacking tact and compassion! You should embarass her by commenting under the pics "Thanks for coming to my mums funeral. I see you had a great time" I think those of her friends that aren't self centered airheads will be properly horrified. Sorry for your loss!

Oh my god! I'm so sorry for your loss OP. Personally, I probably would never speak to those ******* idiots ever again. To try and put the spotlight on themselves at your mother's funeral is just completely unacceptable. How disrespectful to not show any remorse.

There's a time and place for everything. This was NOT the time or place.

Hopefully your moms not in those photos. Have seen some people do that. Sorry for your loss. ♡

If your aunt is this bad now, imagine how terrible of a sister she was to your mom (I'm assuming your aunt is from your mom's side). With that aside, you have my condolences.

That is disgusting and utterly disrespectful behaviour. Sorry for your loss, OP :(

I'm sorry for your loss, OP. I can't imagine what that is like. I could be totally off base here, but there might be more to this story than we realize. Might I suggest that maybe that was the first time in a long time that your aunt and her friends were able to get together. Perhaps they knew their time together would be limited and so they were trying to, albeit inappropriately to us, make the best of a very sad situation. Another angle is that everyone grieves differently and perhaps girl time and silliness is what your aunt needed to help her cope that day- or at least at the funeral. Maybe your aunt wanted to focus on being happy and celebrate her sister's life rather than think about her death. There's always the chance that she was trying to be rude, selfish, or disrespectful, but I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt for now.

I was thinking the same. Death and funerals are difficult for everyone and sometimes people act in ways that seem uncaring. Sometimes facing the death of a sibling brings one face to face with their own mortality. So sorry for your loss

You might be right (everyone deals with grief differently, and it's good to remember the fun sides of the people we've lost) but I still think the aunt lacked tact. She should have kept the pictures between her and her friends or at least waited a while, rather than post them all over social media a week later when others who might be hurt by the photos are still grieving. Or at least written some sort of tribute with the pictures, rather than just posting them as-is.

There's a time and place for doing selfies. Your Mom's funeral definitely wasn't one of them.

Your aunt needs to sort out her priorities.

Am i the only one thinking their is more to this story? Like its possible her mom wanted people to have more of a party than a funeral? Some people ask that we celebrate the life they lived instead of mourning the loss. I'm really hoping your aunt was just trying to honor her life instead of being a selfish *****, but if thats not the case then you can remind her she has one less family member.
