Today, I saw a homeless man on the street and decided to give him the dollar bill I had left in my wallet. He said "Thank you" then as I turned to walk away, he muttered "Cheap-ass cunt". FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, trying to do a good deed, I gave a homeless guy a $10 bill. As I walked away, he yelled after me, "You fucking bitch!" FML
Today, while walking down the street, a homeless man walked up to me. He opened his mouth to say something and I immediately said that I didn't have any spare change because I was late for work. He then said "I was gonna ask you for the time, dickwad". Apparently he wasn't homeless. FML
Crossed purposes
Today, while I was walking home, a homeless man saw me and didn't ask for change, but how much I charged. FML
Today, a homeless man asked me for some money to eat. He ate the five dollars I gave him. FML
Today, I was walking down the street, when a man behind me tapped me on the shoulder. He gave a $5 bill and said that he thought I had dropped it. Not having the integrity to turn him down, I took it. I spent the next 20 minutes being chased by a crazy hobo who claimed that it was his. FML
Today, I saw a homeless guy in the street. It really upset me how everyone's spirit of giving vanished as soon as Christmas was over, so I said fuck it and gave him about $50 worth of money. I barely made it 10 feet away, when another guy mugged him for the money I just gave. FML
Today, while I was walking downtown a homeless person asked me for a dollar. I thought it would be funny to wave the dollar in his face and taunt him. I guess he thought it would be funny to stab me in the leg with a pencil. FML
Today, I went out for a smoke break. A homeless person walks up to me and asks for a cig. As I pull out my pack he says "Oh... Menthols... no I don't smoke that cheap shit". I was called cheap by a hobo. FML
Generous
Today, a homeless guy asked me for a cigarette. Knowing that I only had a couple left in my pack, I gave it to him. He opened it, took one out and thanked me profusely. A bit surprised, I went on my way. Oh yeah, that's right, the pack contained the money I'd withdrawn from an ATM. FML
Today, I cut my nice and tasty home-made sandwich in half to give to a homeless man. He tasted it, pulled an unimpressed face, and then stuck it in his pocket. FML

Was literally my first reaction too. To go back and say "well if you don't want it" and take it back.

I had a person approach me in the street one time saying he was raising money to pay for his brother's funeral and needed $65 more. I handed him $5 and he rejected it saying $10 is minimum.

Beggars can't be chooser, eh?

Apparently that particular one would disagree.

Honestly my experience is that they are and they will be. I saw a man with a dog outside a shopping centre asking for money to buy food for both of them. It was Christmas and I'd just wiped out my savings buying the last of my gifts but I gave him the rest of the coins I had in my purse, which amounted to just over £7. He picked through it, sneered at me and called me a 'patronising bitch' for only giving him change when I 'could clearly afford more judging by my shopping bags'. Buskers on the other hand, I have always found to be grateful for whatever you give them.

The distinction is probably due to the fact that buskers usually work for the money, whereas bums just expect you to give it to them out of sympathy.

Turn around and take your dollar back op! It's the best way for him to learn!

What mattered was your intention.

You did a good thing. Too bad the ashore wasn't appreciative enough. Maybe he had a rough day and was taking out his anger on it. or maybe he's just an asshole. Good deeds don't go unnoticed though. :)

Because they lack a sense of humor.

Or they didn't read the previous FML where someone was abused by an elderly lady he was trying to help.
OysterPearls 33
Nah, its because that FML doesn't really compare to this one. Old lady caning someone ≠ homeless guy being a prick.

Nothing good ever happens when you give something for nothing

Wow, that's a gross generalization if I've ever seen one.

And you're a good example of why this world is quickly going to hell.

Should've taken a line from the movie Liar Liar. "Could you spare a dollar?" "Yes i could, but I'm cheap!"
