Today, I re-dislocated my arm trying to get it out of the cast it was in because I didn't want to pay the $50 dollar fee to get it taken off. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I fell down the stairs and broke my arm. I went into hospital to get it put in a cast, but still went into school afterwards. I got written up for truancy because I didn't have a doctor's note. The cast was still on my arm. FML
Back to square one
Today, I finally got the cast off my leg after being unable to walk for 6 weeks, watching daytime TV or playing my husband's Xbox all day. The second the plaster came off, I tried to stand up, tripped over the doctor's foot and broke the apparently still not fully healed leg again in the same spot. FML
Cruel Summer
Today, I went to the hospital to get a cast that I have been wearing for the past three months removed from my wrist. Thanks to said cast, I couldn't have any summer fun at all. The doctor took a final X-ray and said, "Well look at that, your wrist wasn't fractured to begin with." FML
Get some rest
Today, I dislocated my shoulder doing a really big stretch when I woke up. After the doctor relocated it, my dad told me I still had to do my chores. No excuses. FML
Today, my doctor called and asked me when I could have my broken hand x-rayed again. I said the ER staff had told me it was a bad sprain over two weeks ago. I'm now in a full cast, and have to have my partially healed bones re-broken. There goes my summer. FML
Fake it til you make it
Today, I sprained an arm muscle while pretending to lift weights. FML
Breaking the law (and bones)
Today, I came out from the E.R. with an arm cast and stitches on my head, all because a cyclist ran me over on a pedestrian walkway and got away. FML
Doofus
Today, I was laying on the couch with a cast on my broken ankle. My brother thought it would be funny to shoot my cast with a high-powered pellet gun. It went straight through the cast and now I need to go back to the hospital. FML
Today, a nurse berated me for not being able to lift my leg myself so she could put a cast on. My leg is broken in two places. FML
Today, I had to cut short my New Year's resolution of going to the gym daily, when the meathead next to me dropped some heavy weights, which bounced and landed on my foot. I'm sitting at home in a cast. FML

YDI for dislocating your arm in the first place.

And maybe when you need your knees replaced, you'll do that yourself to?

I dunno about other countries, but my country, notorious for having crappy public healthcare, if I want to see a (non-specialist) doctor, I can just go to him pretty much instantly, at the clinic near my home. I'm not too sure about specialists for elective things, but if people don't feel like waiting here, they're more than welcome to pay for it privately, for more money, and the insurance company may or may not decide to help them out. but the people who can't afford to get treatment, still get it, they just have to wait in line. the problem with non-universal health care, is that it depends on you having money. and not so surprisingly, sick people have a harder time getting that. the people who need health care the most are the ones who can't afford it.

Tarynkd: Here is my local NHS area: http://www.kirklees.nhs.uk/your-services/doctors/ Note: "When you need to see a doctor quickly, you should be offered an appointment within two working days." Hmm, "within two working days" does not sound like "months" to me. I love it when Americans point to failings in Canada and other smaller, poorer countries (ie, every other country on the planet) and claim that it'll happen in America if they get universal healthcare; what, are you so unpatriotic that you think your country, the world's richest, can't create a universal healthcare system that works? Why do you hate America? :P You don't trust your government to run your healthcare, but you do trust them to run your nukes. Do you really have your priorities straight there?

WTF did you even have a cast on for a shoulder dislocation FOR anyway? I have chronic dislocations, and I've never once needed a cast, not even the first time I did it when I fell down a flight of stairs. Generally a sling will do for a dislocation - looks to me like your doctor was trying to screw you out of more money. FYL for living in a country that charges for simple healthcare like that...

Nope, I don't trust my government with that at all. I'm all for universal healthcare, but the US will find a way to screw it up.
