Today, I married the love of my life. I was ecstatic until the wedding reception, where my new husband got drunk and started crying about how he'd been "forced" into marrying me. FML

This makes me sad.

That blows. People tend to reveal their true feeling when hammered. Not a good start but maybe it's just his fears coming out. He may learn to love married life.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that was the booze talking

Maybe women should stop trying to force guys into marriage. I'm not sure if she is sorry she forced him into marriage, or sorry that he gets honest when drunk.

Well at least now you get half his shit in the divorce.

That really sucks to hear that OP. Sorry :/ It seems so surprising a grown adult said he was forced into making one of the most important decisions of his life. I'm guessing that was the alcohol talking.

Spending the wedding night on the couch... But really, if you two want to call it off don't send in your license, just rip it up.

Forced, by whom? And how does someone get forced into marrying someone? Did someone put a gun to his head? I think more details are needed.

my husband can be a dick when he's drunk too, so I feel your pain OP. when he is sober, calmly give him a recap of this in case he doesn't remember and tell him how it made you feel and then ask him what he thinks he needs to do to prevent it from happening again. take it from there.

Wow.. that's not good.

Sit down with him, when he is sober and ask him why he is afraid of speaking to you and why he feel forced. Communication is the biggest key to a long lasting marriage so he needs to learn how to talk and you how to listen. Yes, it will be hard to trust him now or even love him and it wont work if he feel forced. I didnt know my ex husband only married me because he had too, no kids involved, he just felt had to not by love or anything sum such. It was a horrible marriage. I found out the truth when I divorced him and found his diary from that year. He never loved me, he only wanted a maid and some one to ****.

The force is strong in her! Jedi mind trick?
