Today, I managed to electrocute myself on a plug socket while I was showing a group of trainee electricians how not to electrocute themselves while rewiring a plug socket. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got unbelievably drunk and pissed in the corner of my room, all over a plug socket, which blew out the electrics. FML
Today, I'm supposed to start my new job as a Crime Scene Tech. Instead, I managed to electrocute myself with my hairdryer. I'll now have to attempt to explain to them that I really am qualified to safely operate an electrostatic lifting device, and other expensive equipment. FML
Shocking!
Today, in an attempt to be frugal, I tried to repair my own sometimes-faulty toaster. Turns out I unplugged the wrong kitchen appliance, which I only discovered by electrocuting myself while pulling it apart. Now it's definitely broken, will need replacing, and I have a burn. FML
Shocking reaction
Today, I was replacing some outlets for work and I got surprise-electrified. I threw my wire strippers in the air while yelling, "Oh fuck me." The homeowner and his 2 kids were standing 3 feet away. He was not happy. FML
Lesson learned
Today, whilst showing my kids how to replace a light bulb safely, I gave myself and electric shock, and dropped the bulb. Twice in a row. In hindsight I should have let my husband do all the DIY-based educating, since I now have a glass shard in my big toe. FML
Today, I tried to fix my laptop charger by fiddling around with it using metal tweezers. Not only did I forget to unplug the cord and shocked myself, I also ended up breaking the charger completely. FML
Talking Heads song playing?
Today, I almost burned the house down while changing a lightbulb. FML
Zapped
Today, I got the worst electric shock ever, touching a wire that was connected to the electric fence only by a plastic isolator, made specifically to NOT conduct electricity. I still don’t understand how it was possible. FML
Slapstick
Today, my laptop plug got stuck in the wall outlet. I stood there for 10 minutes violently trying to yank it out. My boss came in and screamed at me for making noise. I was angry, so I glared at him and yanked on the plug as hard as I could. It dislodged itself noiselessly and I fell over. FML
Today, I finally finished vacuuming my downstairs. Instead of finding the wall outlet and unplugging the vacuum, I triumphantly tugged the cord from across the room to release the plug from the wall. It flew at me at top speed and hit me in the face. FML

Literally the first thing you learn when learning anything about electronics...

You’re training electricians, yet you’re unsure of the proper use of the term ‘electrocute’...? Electrocution, by definition, results in death. Electrical shock resulting in death. You weren’t electrocuted if you’re alive to share your experience on FML. You were simply shocked.

Not only that, but it has to specifically be an execution to count. The word is an amalgam of electric and execute for a reason.

e·lec·tro·cute əˈlektrəˌkyo͞ot/Submit verb injure or kill someone by electric shock. "a man was electrocuted when he switched on the Christmas tree lights"

Well at least you showed them what not to do?

Maybe time to reconsider your career?

Your life just copied a cartoon!

Why? Getting an electric shock is a quite serious threat to ppl working in that area. That's why you should never under no circumstances re-wire something before turning it off and preventing any currency from flowing

Ohm, I find this rather reVolting. Watt were you thinking? I'm sure you were all Amped up getting to be the teacher but you Shunt have made that mistake.

Go ohm!

Call Alanis Morrisette! She needs to work that into “Ironic,” and take out some of the lines that are not.

You, sir, should rethink your career choice. Also heads up for the future: You can switch it off before re-wiring it...

I imagine learning from the mistakes of others is quite important for trainee electricians.
