Today, I finally finished vacuuming my downstairs. Instead of finding the wall outlet and unplugging the vacuum, I triumphantly tugged the cord from across the room to release the plug from the wall. It flew at me at top speed and hit me in the face. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, after I had finished vacuuming, I ripped the cord out of the outlet and it hit me in the face cutting both my top and bottom lip. FML
Proper job
Today, with words of encouragement from my mom, I vacuumed my room. After finishing and admiring my job well done, I went to put the vacuum away. It caught on the plug for my electric razor which was dangling below the dresser and yanked that and everything else that was on top of it off. FML
Give me strength
Today, I wanted to clean my house. Of course the vacuum cleaner got stuck behind furniture multiple times. After the fifth time or so, I gave it a good pull. Now my vacuum cleaner is broken and the socket is off the wall. FML
Slapstick
Today, my laptop plug got stuck in the wall outlet. I stood there for 10 minutes violently trying to yank it out. My boss came in and screamed at me for making noise. I was angry, so I glared at him and yanked on the plug as hard as I could. It dislodged itself noiselessly and I fell over. FML
Today, after vacuuming, I struggled to pull the nozzle attachment out. I yanked it too hard and it flew out, hitting me in the face and causing my head to jerk back into the wall behind me. My girlfriend had to drive me to the hospital for my concussion. FML
Sucker
Today, I tried out my new noise-canceling headphones while vacuuming my house. They worked so well that I didn't hear the vacuum stop when the plug fell out of the outlet. I accidentally had the vacuum off the entire time. FML
That sucks
Today, I bought a new vacuum cleaner after having to go several months without one. Immediately, I wanted to try it out. I must have underestimated how powerful it was, as it sucked up my socks and then broke. FML
Today, I tried to vacuum to surprise my mom with a clean house. The vacuum started shorting out, sparked, and then burst into flames mid living room. FML
Today, I got unbelievably drunk and pissed in the corner of my room, all over a plug socket, which blew out the electrics. FML
Today, I was vacuuming our house because I wanted to help my parents. I wore a headset while listening to REALLY loud music. The vacuuming job took me two hours and when I took of my headset I noticed that I hadn't started the vacuum cleaner. FML

You shouldn't have needed to 'find' the outlet. It stayed right where it was when you plugged in the vacuum. They don't just grow legs and walk away to a different wall.

hahahaha!! I totally like saw that with cartoons in my head :P

Maybe if you didn't leave all the sucking to your vacuum it wouldnt have slapped you in the face.

Not funny. Maybe you should do the sucking for everyone. Since you suggested it. On the second thought, no thank you. OP Not such a smart idea at all. Think before you act on things.

Doing that damages the cord significantly. Plus it hurts.

Yeah, I'm sure you can defy physics like that. Alrighty then.
LilaBear 2
how the hell is that defying physics? Last I checked it's pretty possible that if you yank on something hard enough, it will come flying towards you, and if your face is in the wrong spot, then yes I imagine it'd hit you in the face.

Top speed Across the room the power cord would have lost most of its momentum by then.

I've done this before, ok? It is possible. I was 5-7' away, or in the other 1/2 of my room.

I'm confused. Are you asking for sympathy?
ShadowlessSpear 21
FML is not for sympathy! When will people understand this?

I moderated this so I could say: YDI: If you read any of the warnings, instructions, or warranties, you would know not to pull on the cord, only by the plug.
myfriend_youfail 3
^^^This. Not only could the cord come back at you suddenly, you run the risk of breaking the plug, the cord, or the wall socket. And a damaged cord, plug, or wall socket could lead to an electrical short and cause a fire. YDI, ya dumb twit.

The thing which she claimed happened (and it's friggin unlikely that it did) is not what the warning is about. You shouldn't pull the plug out by the cord because there is a remote chance that it can damage the plug, that's all.

One of the most important rules of electrical safety is "never pull on the cord to unplug anything" YDI
st0815 9
No it's not. There is a remote chance of something bad happening from that. "Don't stick a screwdriver into a socket" or "don't touch live wires" those are important rules.
