Today, I learned that my new apartment complex does not allow "altercations in community areas". This includes pulling my child out of the pool and reprimanding him for holding his cousin under water. I can't parent outside my apartment. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Common area
Today, I explained to my new neighbors that my kids will continue to use the pool in the backyard as they have for years. The neighbor immediately said my kids are not welcome in her yard and she is building a fence. I don’t know how to explain to my sweet babies they no longer have their pool. FML
Won't someone think of the children?
Today, my family got harassed yet again by kids coming over wanting to use our pool. Ever since my parents and I moved in, it's been happening every single day, and then people accuse my parents and hating children when they say no. FML
Today, I got chewed out by a parent for putting her kid underwater. I teach swim lessons. FML
Today, at the pool, a kid no older than 8 was sitting on the diving board, not letting anyone else use it. I went over and tried to reason with him, but he wouldn't listen. My uncle stormed over, said "I got this!" and punted him over the edge. We both got thrown out for "bullying" the kid. FML
Chill out, lady
Today, I was verbally and physically attacked in a public pool, because I was swimming in what a grandma claimed was her part of the pool. Since I'm a very tolerant person, I calmly tried to talk some reason into the elderly lady. The lifeguard had to come to protect me. FML
Today, a couple yelled at me and reported me to the homeowner association for "watching them make out" at the pool. I'm the lifeguard. FML
How the other half lives
Today, I got a noise complaint about "loud stomping" in my apartment disturbing the tenant below. I guess I'm supposed to tell my sweet children that they are no longer allowed to play in their own home. FML
Today, I agreed to lend my daughter's inflatable pool to my neighbor for the day. Barely an hour later, I witnessed his son jump off their balcony, missing the pool by inches. He's now in hospital, and my neighbor has sworn to sue me, saying I'm responsible because the pool is mine. FML
Health hazard
Today, while lifeguarding, a kid thought it'd be hilarious to take a crap in the pool. The other kids freaked out and rushed to get out. Several of them slipped on the way out and hurt themselves fairly badly. Two parents are now threatening to sue us, and my boss blames me. FML
Dumbass friends
Today, my friend thought it would be funny to post a sign at the deep end of the public swimming pool, saying, "This end topless only." When someone complained, he said that I did it, and I got banned from the pool for life. And fired, too - I was the lifeguard. FML

It's not an altercation. It's called discipline.

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
Then do it in your own apartment?

No. If your child holds another child under water you do what you have to do right then and there.
Mathalamus 25
But you can't, it's apparently against the rules somehow,, so you follow the rules...

So you let the other kid drown then punish your kid for it in the apartment? Pretty sure that could get you arrested.

Congrats. Your child is a psychopath. Also you live in a very strange place where attempted murder is allowed but teaching your kid right from wrong is not.

These days you cant even discipline a child anywhere, its boarder line "child abuse". Smh

Then you tell them to go look up what the definition of altercation is, because that's discipline not a verbal or physical argument 🙄😐

Wouldn't that PREVENTING an altercation? You were scolding your son for doing something that could put someone's life in danger. I'd put in a complaint about such a nonsense rule.

maybe they meant the altercation between your child and cousin??? I doubt staff would reprimand you for stopping him.

You should parent the apartment staff and spank them for being stupid. It seems like they need it.

Fill the pool with concrete, and when they demand answers, reply with, "Well, I can't discipline my children for trying to drown each other, so I removed the drowning hazard."
