Today, I had to work at the restaurant instead of going to the prom, which nobody asked me out to. For five hours, I got to shamefully greet and seat people on their way home from the prom, all of whom knew I was too lame to get asked out. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Celebrate!
Today, at work, I was supposed to have an easy two-hour shift, after which I was planning on attending a party that had been arranged to celebrate my graduation. Nearly six hours later, I am just getting home after being super busy and shorthanded at work for hours. I missed my own party. FML
Today, I spent almost nine hours cleaning because I was promised I could go to junior prom if my room was cleaned. I missed a dust bunny and couldn't go. I had a date for this, who I'd had a crush on for over a year and barely managed to ask to go with me. FML
Today, I invited my girlfriend to go eat out, hoping to put her in a really romantic mood. She decided to tell her friend, who then invited herself and another couple along. I ended up being made fifth wheel, and had to sit alone at an adjacent table. FML
Today, one of my teachers asked me to babysit their kids saturday night. She didn't forget that it was Prom night, she was going to chaperone it. My teacher assumed I wasn't invited to Prom... I wasn't. FML
White lie
Today, I went to prom with my two friends. I was ditched by my prom date because he had “other plans.” The weird thing is that when we got to the prom location, I saw him with another date. FML
Today, I wanted to take my girlfriend to a nice dinner before prom. Her parents followed her in, and joined us to "keep an eye on me." They interrupted all our conversations, ate an expensive meal, then got up and walked out when the waitress brought the $95 check, leaving me to pay for it. FML
So close…
Today, a pretty co-worker invited me out for drinks after my shift. I have no money left until payday. Embarrassed, I had to decline and go home alone. FML
Today, while serving at my restaurant, a mother acted as a wing-woman for her son by insisting I read a note he'd written, asking for my number. I had to awkwardly reject the guy in front of his entire family, before having to keep serving them for another hour. FML
Today, I asked a boy I like to prom by writing all over his car. After nervously sitting by the phone all day, I decided to go out to get lunch. I found the word "No!" written all over my car. FML
Today, my cute coworker begged me to cover his shift tomorrow, and told me that he wanted to take me to dinner to make up for it. I was very excited because I've been crushing on him for a long time. I later overheard him tell his friend that he didn't plan on showing up for our dinner. FML

Prom is lame anyway, why would you want to go? I mean, everyone knows all the cool kids don't go, right?

If you were that desperate to go, why didn't you ask somebody?

Prom is overrated anyway. I went to two my junior year and hated both of them so I skipped senior year and never regretted it! Look at it this way, you made money instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a mediocre night.

Just because no one asked you doesn't mean you're lame. And while it may not seem like it now, what happens in high school stays there. Once you go off to college or do whatever it is you're going to do next, who you were and who paid attention to you in high school will be nothing but a conversation topic that comes up less frequently with every passing stage of life. And I'm willing to bet a lot of the people older than you whom you admire weren't the most popular in high school either.

I never went to the prom. Graduated high school, under grad, and grad school. It's sucks now and I remember how I felt but living well is the best revenge. Take that to heart and be the best at whatever you decide to do.

I went to both Junior and Senior prom... they were fun, but really it was just another dance. Its all hyped up and then turns out to be just the same as any other dance.

Instead of thinking of yourself as lame, think about how much money you made, and his much they spent. Now use that to drive you to get rich, then show up at reunion and then see who thinks you're lame.

Never belittle yourself because of a decision you made. You could've gone to prom alone, or asked someone out or go with a friend. You could've even called off work to avoid seeing those people. Either way you aren't lame. I'm sorry that you felt crappy OP but always remember that life is full of new experiences and things but not all of them are good. It'll be okay. I didn't get asked to prom either.
