Today, I had to create another signature. I have to use one at the bank and the other around my mother, so that when she tries to cash my paychecks the bank won't let her. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
With friends like these…
Today, I checked my bank account online and noticed two checks that I didn't write had gone through, so I got copies of them and recognized the handwriting. It was my best friend's. FML
Today, I had to get out my birth certificate to prove to my dad that today is my birthday. This has happened before. FML
Today, I gave my mother a pre-prepared deposit envelope with my fortnightly wage in it, in cash. I tell her exactly where the deposit box is and what to do. I'm now desperately calling the bank because my mother accidentely put my $1200 deposit in the little trash can for receipts under the ATM. FML
Risky gamble
Today, I did the most idiotic thing someone living with their parents could possibly do. I made a separate online casino account in my mom's name (just her name, my email, phone number, etc.) When I deposited from my bank account, the site got suspicious, and is now making me and her sign a document to get the money out. FML
Today, I figured out the bank account my mom set up for me is actually a joint account, and she gets half the money I deposit. I have been putting money in there for 10 years. FML
Random update?
Today, since it was payday, I figured I’d take my mom out for burgers. The bank also decided to do a random update on our debit card, resulting in my card declining three times. My mom ended up having to pay for our meals. So much for trying to treat my mom out to dinner. I’m still pissed. FML
Today, I wrote in my own yearbook with different styles of handwriting so my mom would think I have friends. FML
Today, my mother, who religiously checks her bank account after every purchase, then shreds her receipts, got fed up with me not doing the same. So she shredded all my piled up receipts. These include the 100s of dollars I had spent for my work, which I need the receipts to get reimbursed for. FML
Today, at work, I told a lady checking out to sign her name after sliding her credit card. After she started signing her name, she threw the pen down in frustration saying that the pen was out of ink. We use electronic pin pads. FML
Can't buy me love
Today, I realized while paying bills on my phone I fat-fingered which credit card I was paying and sent 299 to a paid-off card instead of 200 to another one. Now I'm going to have overdraft fees too. FML

the bank shouldn't let her anyway. Tell them that every time someone comes in to cash a cheque under your name that they have to take ID. That's part of the reason many banks won't take third party cheques anymore. Also your mother could end up paying a hefty fine/go to jail for her actions.

I have to agree with alot of others here about doing direct deposit if its available. my mom used to do that with my little brother and take his checks and cash them. So I helped him get another account setup and he got direct deposit. End of problem.

Not cool for your mom to do that! Maybe try auto deposit?

Usually when checks are cashed they ask for ID...so how does she manage to do that?

We allow you to not have an id if you know your social or if you bring in a check that was written out to someone else then you can cash/deposit it if you sign under their name and have your id

Let the bank know what is going on. they should be able to put a note on your account to make tellers aware of a possible "fraud".

Just use something like a smiley face for the bank. When I worked at a bank some did that for their signature and it was a great idea...dead giveaway if she tried to sign your name.

Let her do it and then sue her for fraud

Scrolled through looking for the obligatory and stupid "your mother raised you so she is entitled to steal from you and ruin your life" comment, didn't find it, faith in humanity + 1

This does not seem foolproof.

Just to touch on a subject here, OP could very well be a minor. At that point, parents can take money regardless.

If that were true, op would not need to create a new signature...
allicatxd 3
Very true because op couldn't be on an account alone. But maybe that's why she cashes checks instead of depositing.

Add a shape to your signature. When I sign for banks, I might use a heart or a star vs a normal dot for my other signatures.
