Today, I had a mental breakdown after going through severe depression for several years. I told my boyfriend that everybody thinks I'm useless, to which he replied, "No you're not. You cook me good dinners." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend told me that he feels empty inside when I'm not in the kitchen. This is the most romantic thing he has said to me in the past two years. FML
Supportive
Today, I had a mental breakdown. Many things have been going completely wrong in my life, and I finally decided to let my boyfriend know about it. After about an hour of explaining and pouring my heart out, his response was, "I think we were better off as friends." FML
Today, I told my boyfriend of nine months that depression runs in my family and I think the reason I've been flipping shit so much lately may be that I am depressed. Not five minutes later he decided a break would be "the best thing for us right now." FML
Today, I admitted to my boyfriend of three years that I have been suffering from depression for a while now. He took it as a good time to dump me. FML
Wild mood swings
Today, my boyfriend, who is supposed to protect me from murderers and rapists, had an emotional breakdown because he was so excited that I'd cooked french fries for dinner. FML
Run, run away pronto
Today, my fiancé yelled at me after I got off the phone with my friends, because I said I hadn't felt this happy and hadn't laughed this much in a long time. He was also mad that I didn't cook him dinner. He didn't ask me to cook dinner for him. He then told me to go somewhere else if I'm not happy with him. FML
Moving day
Today, I told to my girlfriend of 5 years that I'm depressed about having no friends, no job and a difficult family life. I told her that she's the one constant that keeps me going. She decided this was a good time to break up with me to "find" herself, since I was being so mopey. FML
Thanks
Today, I was talking to my boyfriend, feeling pretty low. I said something along the lines of, "You like me even when I look like shit." He replied, "Ah, that's just how you naturally look." FML
Today, my boyfriend and I broke up. I said that at least I was always there for him when he needed me. He said "When did I need you?" FML
Today, my boyfriend called and asked me why I love him. I told him because he's always there for me and continues to put up with my bipolar disorder. He promptly said "not anymore" and hung up. FML

I think cooking good dinners is better than being a crappy cook, nice work!

Tigg3r -- glad you've got the time to troll Wiki all day just to prove an internet user wrong with what was meant to be a JOKING comment. As for the FML itself, I don't see how what he said was a bad thing, he was attempting to compliment her, I guess it just kind of came out wrong.

I'm sure someone has already said this, but if you really were suicidal I seriously doubt you would have made "Suicidal" your FML account user name. "Desperate for Attention" is more like it. But seriously, if you feel that badly get a therapist or something.

They say it's the ones who don't talk about it who do it, but I've seen both -- seriously suicidal people who don't tell anyone, and equally ill ones who think everyone should know. Of course, emos still piss me the hell off. They're only serious about getting attention. You're absolutely right about therapy. I hate when people complain about how bad they feel but don't do anything to help themselves.

OP needs to appreciate what she has. I doubt I would put up with years of someone's depression where they jump on every compliment and twist it to seem like an FML. What could be sweeter than to respond to say you mean something special to me? If the OP finds that compliment demeaning, then she needs to prove the world wrong by doing something more with her life. An attitude of blaming everyone else, the boyfriend in this case, never works.

Now, if you said people thought you "worthless" I might think his rejoinder self-serving and insensitive. But the word you used was "useless" -- which can be defined as "Being or having no beneficial use". So I think your boyfriend gave an example of a beneficial use you provide and that he appreciates, to reassure you. Annoyingly literal-minded, but he probably meant well.

...you whine about the big mean old FML people making fun of the poor "clinically depressed" girl (and what gives YOU alone the ability to diagnose her, while telling us that WE "don't know what her life is like") and then you try and say "I'm getting mean? Too bad!" So basically you're saying its OK for you to "be mean" on FML and for you to diagnose the conditions of people on FML, but anyone else who does is wrong. Talk about hypocritical and badly written. Go whine about "neanderthal men" and "oppression" somewhere else.

I had to deal with a girl like the OP everyday for four months. I eventually flipped shit, got away from her and have never been happier. srsly

I hate it when people love to bring up depression as an excuse, a person with diabetes doesn't bring up their diabetes all the time, its people like the OP that piss me off
