Today, I was watching TV with my boyfriend, when a World of Warcraft commercial came on. He turned to me and said, "Yeah, I'd choose the Horde over you any day." FML
Today, my boyfriend dumped me because he said the relationship was too tough for him. When I asked for an example, he responded, "Like, I don't have enough time to play World of Warcraft." FML
Today, after six months of dating, my girlfriend decided to break up with me because my "obsession" of being on the computer and playing games all the time was cutting into "our time". She then told me to "get a life" and never wanted to see me again. She told me all of this on WoW. FML
Today, it became apparent that my boyfriend only showers when he levels up on World of Warcraft. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I broke up. He said it was because he wanted to 'do his own thing'. So gaming 24/7 like he has for the past two years of our relationship, then. FML

Today, my husband quit his job as a university professor and picked up the graveyard shift at a rat farm so he could have more time during the day to play World of Warcraft. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me. He said it was because his online gaming friends don't like it when I ask him to spend time with me. FML

To me it sounds like the OP's already had plenty of conversations with her ex about his playing habits, and this was the final straw. I love videogames, and I've played WoW myself, but it absolutely can consume some people, and it sounds like the OP's ex was playing far too much, to the detriment of their relationship. I've seen people who play all day and only stop to sleep and eat - they never go out, they never see friends who aren't in the game. I'm not surprised the OP gave him an ultimatum if this was the situation. Relationships take work and dedication, and it sounds like her ex was doing neither. It would be unreasonable to tell him to stop playing if he could balance it with his life with her, but given the context I don't think that's what happened.

For those people bitching at this person for making her boyfriend choose, clearly you've never dated someone who's become obsessed with WoW. It takes over their life... they'd rather spend 6 hours playing a video game with strangers that live halfway around the world than go out and see a movie or hang out with friends. It's utterly pathetic. To the OP, it just sucks you held on so long. You should have dumped his ass earlier. I hope he enjoys yanking it to images of elves and warlocks instead of having sex with an actual woman.
