Today, I gave the option to my boyfriend of 5 years to either quit World of Warcraft of lose me. He said WOW makes him happier. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was watching TV with my boyfriend, when a World of Warcraft commercial came on. He turned to me and said, "Yeah, I'd choose the Horde over you any day." FML
Today, my boyfriend dumped me because he said the relationship was too tough for him. When I asked for an example, he responded, "Like, I don't have enough time to play World of Warcraft." FML
Today, after six months of dating, my girlfriend decided to break up with me because my "obsession" of being on the computer and playing games all the time was cutting into "our time". She then told me to "get a life" and never wanted to see me again. She told me all of this on WoW. FML
New quest
Today, it became apparent that my boyfriend only showers when he levels up on World of Warcraft. FML
A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do
Today, my boyfriend and I broke up. He said it was because he wanted to 'do his own thing'. So gaming 24/7 like he has for the past two years of our relationship, then. FML
Gamers rise up
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me after 2 years of being together. The reason? I don't enjoy playing video games as much as he does. FML
Game on
Today, I realized that my husband has a video games addiction. I am currently pregnant; he brought us to the same country he's in so we can finally live together, only for me to witness him being glued to his laptop all day and all night playing WoW. He's forgotten I even existed. FML
Obsessed and possessed
Today, after weeks of my yelling, my boyfriend finally listened and got a hobby. Instead of getting into something sensible like martial arts, he chose tabletop gaming. Now I have to listen to hours of boring stories about pretend fantasy worlds, and admit to everyone that my boyfriend is a nerd. FML
Today, my husband quit his job as a university professor and picked up the graveyard shift at a rat farm so he could have more time during the day to play World of Warcraft. FML
Gamers rise up
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me. He said it was because his online gaming friends don't like it when I ask him to spend time with me. FML

You must be a really bad girlfriend then. I'm sure you have your things you enjoy doing that take up a lot of time too. If you loved him, you would respect him playing the game. Although it was asshole-like of him to say it made him happier, but you both will get over it.

I used to play Wow, for well over a year, and yes it is addicting as hell. I quit when I felt it was taking up too much time in my daily schedule. Some people can play it casually, kudos to them, don't know how they do it.

let him play, everyone has hobbies.

I agree with # 4 and # 17. Ultimatums are dumb. Let him have his hobbies. Not to generalize, but most guys I know are obsessed with videogames. You have to deal with it. That, and you so clearly need your own hobby. You probably don't give him any space when he's trying to play his goddamn game... sheesh!

I've been addicted to a computer game before. I sucked. I put off things, ignored people, blew off deadlines, and traded real goals for the opportunity to level, etc. Those aren't exactly the kind of characteristics needed to participate in a stable, loving relationship. I don't really think ultimatums belong in stable, loving relationships either, though. He could work on cutting his play time down some while you two work on ways to make him happier. If he's dedicating all his life to a game, he obviously isn't content with reality.

unless he's literally addicted (meaning he can't function in anything else, not that u think he plays too much) ydi

Girls, why don't you get that giving your boyfriends ultimatums or otherwise trying to blackmail them always end up the way you don't want it to end up? It's a simple rule.

I like how you assume he's hardcore gamer. Who knows maybe it was an evening/afternoon hobby of his. Not unlike that of oh... Nascar? See here's the problem. You immediately pass off the ex as lame because he plays a video game and gave it up over someone who approached the problem incorrectly. We would pass off the same comment on you had it been something about another generic stereotype.
