Today, I found out that the nickname my friend has been calling me in Japanese for the past year is the word for "Idiot". FML

Not a very good friend to keep calling you that behind your back. Unless they were just joking

It is usually used as an affectionate term depending on the type of relationship. If its a type of sibling relationship even between two really close friends then its most likley affectionate

Baka! How do you not already know what it means?

バ〜カ

lol, baka

aww, am sure it's affectionate?

Depending on the actual word and what regional dialect is spoken it actually could be. In one area "aho" means along the lines of "dummy" like you would say to a friend and "baka" would be like yelling "******". In another region though, "aho" means "******" and "baka" means "dummy"

Wouldn't be a problem if you watched any subbed anime ever
