Today, I found out that my Mom had taken out a loan out on my car from the repo man taking my car away. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out that the $200 a week I was paying my dad for my car insurance and payment, wasn't actually paying my insurance and car payment. How did I find out he wasn't paying? Repo man took my car. FML
Remember the promise you made
Today, my mom decided to go against every promise she's made to everyone once again and left us in financial ruin. How? She took advantage of my kindness, and didn't pay any of the money she owes me for driving my car, and for so much more. I'm more than $2,000 in debt now. FML
Today, I found out I'm on wage garnishment because my mother, who took out a student loan for me back in '05, didn't pay off the $2015 owed when she said she would. I got screwed over financially because of her. FML
Today, I found out my mom took around $2,500 from my savings account to pay off my sister's college tuition. She recently flunked out of her studies and won't be returning to college anyway. FML
Today, I just bought a car with all of my own money. Then, when I brought it home my dad informed me that my mom will be driving it to work every day. FML
Piggy banked
Today, I discovered my own mother has been stealing money from me for months when I opened my savings box to find it empty. FML
Today, I finally paid off the massive debt on my credit card. I came home only to find that almost everything I owned had been repossessed an hour before I paid the debt. FML
Today, I let my dad borrow my car. I found out a few hours later that he has had a suspended license for three years. How did I find out? He got pulled over and arrested. My car was also impounded. I'm a college student barely making it as it is. Guess who can't afford the impound fees? FML
Narcissistic parents FTW
Today, I told my mom I wasn't doing very good mentally and I was looking for some support. She decided to remind me of all of the things I still haven't paid her back for. I'm now an unpaid loan, not her daughter. FML
Today, my mom cleaned out my bank account, saying my "no-good dad" owes her child support and that she'll get it one way or another. FML

Ouch. That's so shitty. I heard of this woman who has a spending problem that took out a bunch of credit card applications in her child's name. Her kid is TWO. Great parenting, huh?

#62: I agree. The OP seems like a spoiled brat. Here's how I see it: OP lost his car (through NO FAULT of his mother). Mother gives him her car GENEROUSLY. OP loses car when mother takes out a loan on the car. OP cries and bitches. OP, you lost your car. It wasn't your mother's fault that your first car was stolen, so she was being partially generous when she offered to give you her car. Now that you lost her car, it's back to square one. It's as if you lost your original car. Quit bitching and blaming your mother who was trying to be generous.

OP, it doesn't matter if she "gave" it to you. If the title is in her name, it's legally her car. We all learned this in driver's ed; you really should have known. So basically, she didn't give you the car, she was just letting you use it. Not knowing the difference does, in fact, indicate that you are spoiled. I originally said YLIF, but I think your rant there might have changed my vote to YDI.

Well it seems see let you use the car (didn't actually give you the title) and there was a loan on it. She didn't take it back from you for no reason - she has money problems, she was unable to keep paying the rates. You are a family - she immediately wanted to help you when your car was stolen, right? Try and figure something out to help your mom, now that she has problems, she needs you.

Assuming the laws in *your* "United States" are the same as the laws in the "United States of America", if it was your car, she could not legally take a loan out against it without your permission. Either her name was on the title (which means she owned it, at least in part) or the lender broke *FEDERAL* laws. She *LOANED* it to you when she said you can use it, but until she signed the title over, you are nothing but a whiny bitch driving mommy and daddy's car. Not that much would change when the title switches over -- you would still be a whiny bitch driving mommy and daddy's car -- you will just have your name on a title you didn't buy. If it was *your* car, then you need to go after your mother for falsifying legal documents in your name. If not, stop crying that your mom lost her car to the repo man -- from your later post, the car was not even worth $3,000, she has serious issues if she is taking out title loans against it. Get her help, man, she obviously is about to hit rock bottom, you being a baby is not helping much -- it is likely this exact attitude she was afraid of when she hid the fact that she needed to take out a title loan for chump change and hide the fact from you.

My first car was titled in my name at 16. If the title was in your name, your Mom (she would have had to forge your name) and the loan company are guilty of fraud and grand theft. You'll have to decide if you want to press charges. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do if the car was in her name.

This is confusingly worded. Was the repo guy the loanshark, or just the bearer of bad news? Or both? Whichever, FYL.

@62 you can compare it because when you use that car to work, which the money is used to pay the insurance, gas, and all the extra shit i put in the car, oh i'm a spoiled little brat because my mom decide to get a new car and give me hers(which was paid off years before) after mine was stolen. i needed a car for work, school and other stuff, also it was cheap less the 3000 and guess what i paid for my other car before it was stolen less than 1000.don't be a bitch because you parents didn't love you, your just one of those people who didn't do shit or get shit

What she did ain't nice, but you don't seem to have any legal recourse. Tell her how much her loan ****** you over, and how she should have told you if it could have affected your life, then move on.

@ 8, ya ur right but i don't agree w that law
SheriffBart 0
You don't agree with the person whose name is on the title being the owner of the car? Huh?
ozymandias_fml 0
Her name would have had to have been on the title in order to take a loan out against it. Ergo, it was not *your* car.

YOU SHOULD EAT SOME PASTA

I'm going to have to agree with 62. @OP: Insurance, and gas are things a responsible person pays for regardless. You'd have been paying those things no matter what car it was, bitching about it is like bitching about paying for a chocolate bar, after you've already eaten it. You got what you paid for. As far as the shit you put in it, anything other than modifcations to the car, you would have had a chance to get back. Modifications to the car, well that's your own damn fault for modifying a car that wasn't actually yours. YDI.
