Today, I found out my mom can't wait until I turn 18, so she can kick me out and turn my room into a huge closet for all her clothes. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my mom told me she can't wait for me to turn eighteen so she can turn my room into a place for her to display all her antique glass dolls. FML
Sentenced
Today, I realized I can't wait until my daughter moves out the house when she is 18. She's eight. FML
Get me out of this mess!
Today, two more years until I can move out. My mom takes up so much space in the house, even in my room, I don't even have enough space for my own clothes, and I'm not allowed to get rid of ones that don't fit. How am I supposed to survive another two years here when I have a breakdown about her suffocating me once a week? FML
Today, I found out that my mom goes through my garbage. I'm 25 and don't live with her. FML
Get me out of here!
Today, my mother is a hoarder and her stuff has taken over the whole house, my bedroom included. I've always felt trapped in my home, but when I can't use my closet or dresser because of her and have a messy room because of it, I feel like I can't breathe. In 3 years I'm moving out, I wish it would come faster. FML
Today, my mom yelled at me for going through her closet for some warmer clothes. She had a rant about taking her clothes without her permission, all while wearing a pair of my boots and one of my sweaters. FML
Get out
Today, my mother kicked me out of the house because her new boyfriend needs my room. Evidently he also needs my credit card, passport, and wallet too, because she kept all three, while tossing everything else out on the lawn. FML
Today, I found out my roomie has lost her only source of income. This means I'm responsible for all the bills and the rent. I would kick her out and get someone else, but she's my mother. FML
Today, I decided it was time to start looking for my own place and finally gain my full independence. My mom agreed happily without hesitation, which was surprising, but not anywhere near as surprising as finding out I have one day to get my shit together and leave. FML
Don't go
Today, my mother told me she thinks it is time for me to move into my own place. I agreed with her and went to look at studios/flats online. She later came into my room, saw me looking at places and then got pissed off at me, saying that I hate her for wanting to leave her. FML

I hate parents with the mindset of kicking you out when you turn 18. That's the most ****** up thing a parent can do. Most people aren't finically stable at 18 and need help before they get out.

Yikes, I really hope she doesn't get impatient and start converting your room. It's terrible when parents' beliefs force their children to live in the closet.

my step dad was practically pushed me out the door when I graduated in June at the age of 17. my mother wanted to force me to stay till I turned 18 in January. it was a complex situation. I wanted to leave and learn to live on my own but I also didn't want to feel forced out of my home.

The problem with generation x. You think everyone owes you something for nothing.

Don't you have an economy to trash? Oh wait your generation already did that. Surprised you're capable of working a computer though, good job!

I think that everyone is owed a chance to succeed in life. Kicking someone out at 18 years old doesn't really help that situation. If they want to go to college, it's going to really difficult to do that while working to pay for tuition, rent, food, utilities, gas, car, etc etc. I know I would like to give my daughter the best opportunities to succeed that I can, if that means she lives with me a little longer so be it. I choose to bring her into this world, and it is my responsibility to help her make the best life of it she as she can. This goes beyond the age of 18.

um...wrong generation you are talking about. generation x are now all 40 and older.

How dare kids expect their parents to put "child not homeless" above "room for more shoes." Stupid entitled kids wanting food and shelter. Mommy needs room for enough clothes to outfit an army!

By law your mother should have to issue you a 30 day notice.

My mother understands that I don't make a lot at my job and housing is hugely expensive so she allows me to stay so long as I put money towards utilities and rent. She knows I won't get a nice place until I'm at least 25 due to our areas housing market and never pressures me to leave. In fact I tried to move out years ago but she kept my room unchanged so when I had to come back I had a place to come back to. Your parents chose to have a kid, your kid didn't choose to be born. Don't treat them like property or some kind of nasty thing you get rid of and they'll appreciate you all the more. As for parents that kick their kids out early and make em suffer... It's a shitty nursing home for you!

"Don't treat them like property or some nasty thing to get rid of" Am I the only one who thought sexually transmitted diseases when they read this? Though, technically children are the result of sex and are parasitic for the first portion of their lives...hmmm...

If my parents had kicked me out when I was 18 I would have been ******. The cost of living where I am is very high. I'm so grateful my parents let me stay at home while I finish school, which is only a few blocks away. This day in age throwing your kids out onto the street is a HUGE disservice to them. I hope OP makes it in the world and sticks it to their jerkoff mom

Wait a few weeks and then send a fake letter to your house saying that you haven't been in school. When she asks about it, say that you realised that the only way you could support yourself would be if you dropped out of school and started working immediately. So you've been working at McDonald's these last few weeks.

That's wrong :( but you are an adult and have your own choices of whether or not you want to continue living in your own home or finding your own place. I suggest you find a job as soon as you can. Rent a room or find someplace cheap and affordable. In my situation at the age of 18 my parents NEVER ever talked to me like that. They only told me that by the time I was ready to move out (at any age) I could go. I was in college during that time, I didn't work. I did move out a year later with my ex, but that was a mistake I did cos I didn't even had a job. But after the break up I went back to my parents, found a job and I'm still living with them. But, I pay my part of the rent and bills. So don't worry, maybe she's joking or being serious. If other people could support themselves at 15, 16 or 17, then you could do. Don't doubt it. :)
