Today, I found out less than three weeks before my wedding that my fiancé will lose his new, great paying job, unless we cancel our nonrefundable honeymoon. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out that I have to reschedule my upcoming honeymoon because my office will be understaffed that week, due to the boss going on vacation right after my wedding. Oh, yeah, and he's in my bridal party. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Today, I found my fiancé is cheating on me. Our wedding is in 26 days and everything is already paid for. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé is going to be deployed on our wedding day. FML
Shelve your plans
Today, I discovered that my fiancé had responded to an online missed connection posting. He has been emailing, exchanging pictures and making plans to go out with this girl. We are supposed to be married in the fall and just put down the non-refundable deposit on our reception site. FML
Event canceled
Today, I had to cancel my $15,000 wedding and send a mass e-mail to 90 guests that there won’t be a wedding. My now-ex fiance got fired from his job. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, if it wasn’t for the fact he got his colleague pregnant. FML
Decisions, decisions
Today, my marriage is one week away. Despite all the challenges we faced during COVID, we powered through everything. Today is also the day my work decided to tell me they're letting me go. I now have to either go on my improvised honeymoon or job hunt. FML
Today, I was told by one of my bridesmaids that she can't afford the travel costs to get to my wedding, after telling me that she didn't need me to organize alternate free travel for her. I'm getting married in less than two weeks. FML
Today, my company let me go after 3 months. A day before my wedding and with zero advance notice. FML
Today, my fiancée decided to go on a "vacation." Our wedding is tomorrow. FML

Well, OP, which will be most benefitial in the long run? It sucks that it's non-refundable and all, but you might be able to persuade them to change the dates or something.

don't be sad. just postpone the trip. either way, it feels the same to have sex at home than in Hawaii.

YDI...well, rather HE deserves it...for not informing the employers during the interview process that this honeymoon would occur. My husband and I were both job hunting before our weddings, and our future employers (yes, we got the jobs) were told during our interviews that we were getting married and taking a honeymoon.

Meh, am I the only one who thinks that if he choses the job over the honeymoon it means he'll ALWAYS put the job before their relationship? if that boss can't understand the fact that your fiancé's going on a HONEYMOON and that it's an important thing, well, it means there's NO WAY he'll ever let him do anything for you and your future family. If he stays at this job, you must say goodbye to celebrating wedding anniversaries and even birthdays (that includes your future children) with him. that boss is an unconsiderate moron who can only think of his own money and thus won't let your fiancé have a life. Not to mention that working like this will eventually destroy his health. I think it's better to have a husband that doesn't make THAT much money, but at least can be there for you and give importance to your relationship and your family, than being rich and having a totally absent husband.

While what you've said is completely true, it's also a situation that most people find themselves in, and is just a reality. Especially in the US at the moment, the level of control people have over their terms of employment is far from ideal. It's one thing to say that family comes first, it's another to have that family turned out into the street when the house gets repossessed. Sometimes putting your family first means making hard decisions.

I understand it's reality 'cause I've lived like this my whole life =/ I mean, my dad always put his job in the first place and now he's lost many moments that'll never come back and his health is screwed. I just don't think it's right... I mean, you don't need to let the family starve or something, just have some kind of limit.

Very true. I think that the employment situation many people find themselves in is just horrible, and like you said, it can do as much harm as good. I come from a military family, so the job was almost always the number one priority growing up, but obviously, everyone's experiences are different. Given a choice, most people would love to spend all their time with their loved ones, but I think many people today have simply had that choice taken out of their hands. For a lot of people it's either take this job, or be unemployed.

Not to mention the state of the economy lately, a lot of people are taking any job they can. Also, it is possible the finacé is being extra careful about his job because he's new. It's possible if the boss keeps screwing him over with things like this, and listens to no objections, then he might just up and leave and look for better working conditions at a lower paid job.

definitely a tough place to be in! i would definitely go with the good paying job, just because of the reality of the recession. you'll always be able to vacation later, even if you feel like you're missing out on your honeymoon. maybe give the trip to someone you love, who has really helped with the wedding? like your parents, or close friends. best wishes and have a wonderful life!

well, just cancel it and reschedule

Go to the honeymoon alone and have sex with someone else. Problem solved.

yeah this sucks for you, but your husband shouldve asked his boss before and/or gotten a refundable honeymoon if you knew he was looking for a job

FYL, but you'll have plenty of time later on to go on vacations. A great job is hard to find right now.
