Today, I found out less than three weeks before my wedding that my fiancé will lose his new, great paying job, unless we cancel our nonrefundable honeymoon. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out that I have to reschedule my upcoming honeymoon because my office will be understaffed that week, due to the boss going on vacation right after my wedding. Oh, yeah, and he's in my bridal party. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Today, I found my fiancé is cheating on me. Our wedding is in 26 days and everything is already paid for. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé is going to be deployed on our wedding day. FML
Shelve your plans
Today, I discovered that my fiancé had responded to an online missed connection posting. He has been emailing, exchanging pictures and making plans to go out with this girl. We are supposed to be married in the fall and just put down the non-refundable deposit on our reception site. FML
Event canceled
Today, I had to cancel my $15,000 wedding and send a mass e-mail to 90 guests that there won’t be a wedding. My now-ex fiance got fired from his job. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, if it wasn’t for the fact he got his colleague pregnant. FML
Decisions, decisions
Today, my marriage is one week away. Despite all the challenges we faced during COVID, we powered through everything. Today is also the day my work decided to tell me they're letting me go. I now have to either go on my improvised honeymoon or job hunt. FML
Today, I was told by one of my bridesmaids that she can't afford the travel costs to get to my wedding, after telling me that she didn't need me to organize alternate free travel for her. I'm getting married in less than two weeks. FML
Today, my company let me go after 3 months. A day before my wedding and with zero advance notice. FML
Today, my fiancée decided to go on a "vacation." Our wedding is tomorrow. FML

Well, OP, which will be most benefitial in the long run? It sucks that it's non-refundable and all, but you might be able to persuade them to change the dates or something.

don't be sad. just postpone the trip. either way, it feels the same to have sex at home than in Hawaii.

Non-refundable, but not unchangeable. So perhaps ask them to change the dates of the trip so that you can still go.

Deal with it. You'll lose more $ in the long run.

that blows. poor planning on your part. if you're not bright enough to confirm vacation time well in advance, with both of your jobs, YDI

Not necessarily. He could've confirmed it with his old job, and just not forseen this new job opportunity arising. New bosses often look down upon requesting vacation time so soon after being hired, and that's not considering that some jobs require you to accumulate vacation time by working your set schedule first. Besides, perhaps there's mandatory training or something that can't be easily rescheduled.

#32 - you did read the bit where it said his NEW job, right?

It's a new job, so planning doesn't necessarily come into it. What he should have done, though, was to mention his upcoming honeymoon after he'd gotten the offer letter from the company. He might have had to take the time unpaid, but most reasonable companies would understand the situation and make allowances. If he didn't even mention it until he was actually at work, then it might be a YDI situation. In any case, usually with non-refundable trips, they'll let you reschedule, or give you credit. they may charge a fee, but at least you won't lose all your money. Otherwise, try to sell it (if transferrable). If all else fails, be happy with the good, high-paying employment, which is getting more rare these days.

Yeah, really. If they're still married in 5 years, they'll have something to celebrate.

This is actually about the fml above this one, the one with the cotton balls and string. Ummmmm... thats A JOKE ive seen in a JOKE BOOK. Most likely the woman thought this was funny and decided to try to pass it off as her own story. other people, please call her out for me. :)

Why don't you do it? Are you afraid of the OP getting mad?

Yeah, comments for that one have been disabled. I'll bet it disappears soon, for exactly this reason.

See, this is why you have kids BEFORE you get married.
