Today, I found a tiny, featherless baby bird. I knew it was impossible, but I tried to keep it alive through the day. Before I could get it to the wildlife center, it died, and when I got all choked up over it, my mom started laughing at me and saying how "weak" I was. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
The bird
Today, I saved a baby bird from the site I work on. It was the runt and did not have any feathers and was neglected by the mother. I took care of it all day at work and planned on taking it to a wildlife reserve after work. Two minutes away from the reserve, we hit a pothole and I dropped it. It died. FML
Today, my brother and I found a little bird that couldn't fly. While trying to convince my mom that it couldn't fly so we could keep it, I lightly tossed it in the air and it landed a few feet in front of me. Then my cat grabbed it and ate it. FML
You're welcome…
Today, I saved a bird from being run over as it lay in the middle of the road. Thinking it had a broken wing or something, I started carrying it home, intending to take it to the vet later. It crapped in my hand and flew away. FML
Just do it
Today, I witnessed the beautiful sight of a tiny baby bird struggling to take flight from its nest. "You can do it," I muttered, which I guess my asswipe of a cat heard as "Quick, go kill that bird and scar me for life, please." FML
Today, I found out that my mother is extremely emotional when it comes to animal deaths when a bird flew into the window and died, and she insisted we have a funeral. FML
Today, I was caring for a bird that had flown into my window. I thought the poor thing wouldn't make it, when it shit in my hand, flew into my neck, then around my living room for ages before I could manage to get it out of the window. FML
It's MINE
Today, after months of trying to persuade her to give it to a wildlife rescue, I reported my stepmother to the authorities for illegally keeping an endangered bird in the kitchen. When they took it, she screamed that I had no right to do that, as she considered it hers since she found it. FML
Today, I found a bird that had fallen from its nest, so I made a new nest for it in a shoebox and put it as close to the old one as possible. When I checked back on it later, all I found was a chewed-up corpse. FML
Today, my mom was criticizing how I can't handle taking care of any living thing because I'm too irresponsible. We had a huge argument so I went back to my apartment, only to find that my fish had died. I forgot I had a fish. FML
Today, I watched a cat pounce on a small bird and rip it to shreds, feather by feather. It wouldn't have been any worse than mildly disturbing, had I not just spent the last 4 weeks nursing the bird back to health from a broken wing. FML

The world needs more people like you, birdwatcher. It's not weakness, it's compassion.. If your mom doesn't get it, I pity her a little.

Just as a tip for next time, try and replace the baby in the nest. If you can't find/ can't reach the nest, put the baby in a shoebox or something similar, lined with something warm, and put it in an elevated place. Despite the old tale, parents will still feed the baby after humans have touched it. I'm sorry it died, though!

Damn, you don't have to say her moms a bitch, but you can say she's not so compassionate.

Your mother is cruel and has major issues. You tried to do something wonderful and kind, don't let your mothers disgusting behavior change that.

You're a great person for trying to give the baby bird a chance, I'm sorry it didn't work out OP. :(

Seems to me like this bird was pushed out of the nest. If that's true, then that means it was the weakest of the clutch. Don't interfere with natural selection.

It sucks that you tried to help it and couldn't but at the same time, YDI for getting attached to a fragile creature you knew had serious medical issues.

Well, sorry for the fact that some of us have some sort of compassion for helpless, sickly animals.

50 seems like the type of child who'd dump someone after they develop a terminal illness. What a sick piece of work.
