Today, I found a purse in the school bathroom. When I looked inside, there was an iPod along with some other expensive stuff in it. I took it to the office so the right owner would get it back. The owner passed me in the hall on the way there; she freaked out and punched me in the face. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to the movies. After it was over I got up and noticed a designer purse sitting on the ground in the back row. I opened it to look for anything that could give me a address so I could return it. The owner came back, assumed I was robbing her, and punched me in the nose. FML
Today, I had given up on finding my makeup bag with cell phone and iPod my mom had bought for me recently. So I went to art to join the group of girls with whom I share the back art studio of my school. One of them was talking about how she'd ripped off some bitch's stuff, and she held up my bag. FML
Tea leaf
Today, I found the purse that some asshat stole from my 15-year-old sister a few days ago. I found it in my now ex-boyfriend's closet. When I confronted him, he broke up with me for "invading" his privacy and kicked me out, without the purse. FML
Today, my "friend" came over. I caught him trying to steal my iPod on the way out. Proud of myself for catching him, I asked him to leave, only to realize that I had forgotten to actually take the iPod back from him before he left. FML
Today, at work, an old lady came through my line to buy some groceries. She told me she lost her purse and was a little short. It was busy, so I pulled out my little purse and gave her the money she needed. A few minutes later she returned with my boss, insisting that my purse was hers. FML
Today, I was working as a cashier and a woman brought up a suitcase. As I was ringing her up I checked inside like I'm supposed to and I very jokingly say, "Look at all the stuff you're stealing." She laughed nervously then hit me in the head with her heavy purse before running out of the store. FML
Today, I went for a job interview. Before giving me a tour, the manager pointed to my purse and said, "Better leave that in my office." I didn't know why it was safer in her office than on my shoulder, but I complied. Later, I went to buy coffee and discovered that all my cash was missing. FML
Today, while I was taking a break at work, someone stole my iPod from my desk. I work in a police station. FML
Never sneak up
Today, I was listening to some music before school started, which is why I didn't hear my teacher sneak up behind me. When she laid her hand on my shoulder, of course I accidentally punch her in the face. Her nose bled. FML
Today, I was walking down the street when a man stole my purse. He then opened the purse, threw up in it, and gave it back. FML

No good deed goes unpunished. Just explain it to her and keep doing the right thing.
Palirose 22
It's ok OP. at least you were trying to do the right thing. Don't let her terrible reaction stop you from doing good things like that again.

It's a sad reflection on society when someone automatically assumes that a person stole it, rather than simply giving them the benefit of doubt and thanking them.

I agree do the right thing always

I had a lady get mad at me because I took her unattended cart with her purse and baby bag. im sorry but its my job to secure it so no one steals it, its happened before, a thank you would be kind enough smh
euphoricness 28
You are right #1. No deed goes unpunished, which is why I try my best to contradict that theory! I lost my wallet one time at my school (though my school does not have a good reputation) and some kind girl turned it in to the office for me. When I retrieved it I asked who she was so I could reward her with a gift card with half the money I had in the wallet. I had 30$ in there so I have her a chipotle gift card for 15. Anyways, point is, keep doing the right thing, OP - there are times you won't meet an asshole!

Thank you, to everyone, who does the right thing! Society makes it harder on us for being do-gooders but I'd hope someone would do the same for me. I found 3, $2,000 checks made out to "cash" a few years ago, on the ground. There was no phone number on the check. I attempted to look up the person online with no avail. I took the checks to Chase, where the checks were from, and asked them to contact the account holder that the checks were found and turned in. I could have easily cashed $6,000 for myself since it was made out to "cash." The manager didn't do what I asked; she put them in a shred bin and told me if the account holder is worried, he'll call to have the checks cancelled. AKA, Chase wasn't going to contact him so he would have to pay to cancel the checks! Next time, I'll just send them in the mail to the account holder.

It is bad in society when we assume someone stole it, but i think most people will believe that someone stole their belonging if they see it in another persons hand. Though, since op was carrying the item in plain sight, i would ask why op has the item than punch him/her.

Umm wow just goes to show that people are just crazy now adays . I think I would have had to defend myself. Or thrown her shit down and stomped on it. That was so not called for

Did you purposely quote Wicked? If so, I love you forever. Awesome musical.

Yeah, but you should have punched her back, that was so bs all the way

Girls don't hit tooooo hard
meow_jess 11
You'd be surprised..
Drakorex 10
That's what they all think
kwyk 23
Judging by your comments, I imagine you're an expert on the subject.
BlowinChronic 18
Do you get hit by girls often?
mkcontrollers 11
Your a dumb ass.
AliStallings 5
So what about girls that fight professionally? You'd get your ass kicked in a heartbeat.
BulldogHoops 14
"Your a dumbass" Oh, the irony.
Catkam623 27
Also watch out: teenage girls really know how to slap, and putting their long nails to good use.
Rodville 28
Maybe but they can swing hard. My wife once broke a corelle bowl over my head.
Drakorex 10
Sure a professional fighter that has been trained is obviously stronger than an average girl but still nothing compared to how hard a guy would hit, it was just a fuxkin joke people. It's just funny when girls think they can actually punch hard.
Arthurie 30
Once again it seems that you know a lot about the strength of a girl's punch. Judging from your comments, it's not hard to see how you know so much.
Palirose 22
69- Im a woman and I have a really hard punch and no I am not a professional fighter. You can not base it off gender when it comes to men and women. Plus OP is a girl getting hit by another girl. Yeah in most cases men are stronger but everyone has their weak and strong points. Just an FYI. you'll be amazed how many regular women can actually kick someones ass whether they're male or female.

Not the smartest choice to look inside the purse.
MagicGiraffe 12
People tend to put their ID in there...
BlowinChronic 18
How would anything have changed if she had NOT looked in the purse?
ManInTheMachine 20
I think you missed the point of the FML, 4.
PrincessPesa 20
It's pandora's purse!
NickaPLZ 26
I can see why she did that, but it still sucks... Did you explain what you were doing with it?
sierra142 19
I think she punched before op had a chance to say anything.
mega20913 8
I disagree my first reaction would be to say "hey, that's my purse. where did you find it?" or something to that effect
SHAMUS_the_WITTY 18
33, the question here is why you even had a purse in the first place, since you're a guy.
420Zombie 17
sometimes guys feel like "looking pretty" too lol
jarrettd 27
Op is a women. Look at the symbol. The circle down means women.
Tiger9099 11
Before or after she got punched in the face.
tylermt1999 17
Maybe she should've asked first why you had it?. And then you could've explained it. I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding.
bReLiNg 18
It makes sense. Maybe she's poor and worked really hard for that stuff- so it means more to her.
SomeRandomGuy15 18
In that case, she should watch over it better and not leave it in the bathroom...
cocacola999 27
Being poor does not exclude manners. No matter how hard she had to work for that iPad, she still should have asked before punching.
ihaveasushicat 24
So being rich means she is more careless to leave things around? Not likely.
AKGirlinSD 20
Poor or not, the owner of the purse messed up big time! Assuming makes any situation worse than it should be. I wouldn't even ask why OP had my purse, I would have asked, "Hey, cute purse! Where did you buy it from?" No assumptions and OP would have the chance to say she found it in the bathroom and was returning it to the owner. But that just makes too much sense. Therefore, most people will keep assuming and expecting the worst.
buddy51 23
OP You should be happy she wasn't packing or this would be much worse!
BlowinChronic 18
If she was packing at school then she has some serious issues and it needs to be handled.
FightMyLiger 19
If she were packing I bet it'd be in her purse.
Ciara4757 16
You definately deserve a reward for that. Either way its good karma iv gotten my purse back 3 times and I always hand in things I find
nnnope 26
Aside from the rest of that grammatical nightmare...there is no "a" in "definitely."
aalijahraj 10
I would have left it where it was! And let office know about it
Enslaved 38
But then you would risk the purse being left in the hands of the next person to find it and she might not do the right thing. The OP wanted to make sure it was returned to the rightful owner. :P
aalijahraj 10
Making sure it is returned to its rightful owner at the cost of being punched in the face?? Not a wise move for me
