Today, I fell asleep while lifeguarding, thinking I could get away with it due to my sunglasses. When I woke up, I saw my boss waving at me. Apparently she'd been trying to get my attention for five minutes. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I so obviously dozed off during a video call at work. Afterwards, my manager messaged me asking if I was OK. I was mortified, and now I'm "on his watch." FML
Today, I was at work as a lifeguard. The temperature was absolutely stifling, but I tried to tough it out. A couple of hours into my shift, I passed out, fell off my stand, and crashed into the water. Or so the medics tell me. FML
Today, someone at my workplace yelled at me and filed a complaint for staring at them too often. I'm a lifeguard. FML
Today, I was really, REALLY tired at work. I went to the restroom to take a little break, and must have dozed off, because I was awoken by my boss, knocking on the door of the stall. Apparently, I had been snoring. FML
Today, I fell asleep at my desk. It's bad enough that it was for 45 minutes and that I was snoring. What makes it worse? My boss woke me up. FML
Today, while taking part in a lifeguarding exercise, I was supposed to "drown" to get another guard to save me. After all was done, my boss called me into his office and screamed at me for "drowning the wrong way," and threatening our reputation. FML
Today, while I was at the beach I decided to go into the ocean even though the waves looked rough. While I was in the water, I got caught by the riptide and needed to be saved. The reason I was at the beach? I'm a lifeguard. Now all my co-workers won't stop laughing at me. FML
Today, I yelled out while I was asleep. However, I was sleeping during a very important meeting with customers and my boss. FML
Today, I was at work lifeguarding and saw a kid drowning on the far end of the pool. I decided running would be the quickest way to get to her, but as I ran across the pool deck I slipped and hit my head. The kid's mother jumped in to save her child and then called an ambulance for me. FML
Today, I got into trouble for sleeping at work. FML

You're an ass. What if there happened to be a double DNS or a C-spine in front of you where your other co-workers can't particularly see? (Even though they should be able to scan it.)

So exactly whose life were you guarding while you slept? The only imaginable thing more incompetent to your sleeping on a lifeguard job is if your boss did NOT fire you on the spot.

You so totally freaking deserve it! I HOPE that you got fired for that. As a former lifeguard instructor, water safety instructor, and lifeguard/lifeguard manager, I would have fired you on the spot and ensured your certification was revoked. Your JOB is to guard people's lives. Anything could have happened when you were watching the backs of your eyelids instead of your water. It's not just about children...it's about everyone's safety in the pool, and you epically FAILED at that!!!!!
