Today, I dyed my hair purple. I came out of the salon and a little girl walked past and said, "Wow, you look like a mermaid!", to which her mother quickly said, "No she doesn't, she looks like her parents don't love her." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to the hair salon. When I got home, my three-year-old daughter told me I looked like Dora the Explorer. FML
Today, I babysat for two little girls, who wanted to play 'mermaids'. I smiled, and said that I would love to play with them. The older girl laughed, saying "You can't be a mermaid. Mermaids are pretty." FML
Today, my mom was feeling down because of her gray hairs. In an attempt to cheer her up, I suggested that she dye them. Her hair turned orange. FML
Kids these days…
Today, while changing my clothes, my 3 year-old daughter informed me that I looked like a zebra. Noticing my shocked face, she tried comforting me by telling me I was a pretty zebra because I was a purple zebra. She was talking about my stretch marks. FML
Today, I went to a salon. As soon as I walked in, someone ran to me and inspected my hair and said, "We can fix this." I was there to get my daughter's hair done. FML
Today, I got my long hair cut in a short pixie cut. When my five year old daughter saw me she laughed and proclaimed 'You look just like a man!'. That afternoon I got a concerned call from the school. My daughter has told everyone 'mummy has gone away, I now have two daddies!' FML
Today, at the Mommy and Me dance class that I take my four year old daughter to, the instructor had us do a stretch, telling us to pretend we're mermaids. My daughter said to me, "But you're not a mermaid, you're a whale!" FML
Today, I was walking down the sidewalk and heard a little girl ask her dad why I had blue hair. He said, "Sometimes drugs will make people do stupid things." FML
Thanks, guys
Today, I’ve been dying my hair an auburn color for years. It looks so natural and get complimented often. Before I can even say thank you, my daughter or partner blurts out, “It's not real” or “It’s fake”. Everyone laughs and it’s a little less awkward, I guess… FML
Today, I went to get my hair highlighted at the salon. The salonist mixed up my blonde hair dye with some other girl's hot pink and violet dye. Now I look like a cheap hooker. FML

That's ridiculous. If anything, that little girl's mother doesn't love HER enough to let her express herself. She's teaching her daughter to judge others based on what they look like. Parenting fail.

Who wants to bet that little girl is going to be a future OP.?

Op I can personally say that I have had my hair all different colors and my mother loves me. :) That lady is a judgemental bitch.

the mother was definitely rude, but you have to remember that until recently dyeing your hair anything but a natural color was considered an act of rebellion. I mean we still have other FML's about getting disrespected for writing with left hands. Stuff like this will perpetuate until the generation it comes from is expired.

You should've said to the kid "I'm your mom from 20 years ago"

Last year I had a few streaks in my hair when I went to grab groceries and the same thing happened! I called my mom laughing because she's the one that does them for me

No worries, OP, I know that feel! I have pink hair and I was in the store a few days ago when a little boy told me that I looked like a pony. I thought it was adorable but his mother kept apologizing to me and scolding him for it! I think the parents are scared of us above anything else, LOL

I'm sorry to hear that woman said that about you OP just because of the color you decided to dye your hair but I understand how you feel bc my hair is pink and people always stare which I find to be extremely rude

No offense but if you didnt want people to look it it you probably shouldnt have dyed it a bright colour that stands out. I have a couple of friends with bright colour hair (Purple and Blue) and i think you will find 'most' of the people staring are not judging but just find it interesting and different.

That still doesn't justify saying her parents don't love her, that's just harsh.
