Today, I drove my friends two hours to see a tourist attraction I had been talking up for months. It burnt to the ground last week. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Oversight
Today, I drove six hours with a friend to see one of her favorite bands in concert. We were turned away at the door because the online site didn't say we had to be 21 to enter. I drove six hours back with nothing to show for it but an empty gas tank and useless tickets. FML
Friends in need…
Today, I made a trip that would usually takes three hours, but took over five thanks to holiday traffic, to comfort my best friend after another breakup with her horrible boyfriend. We'd planned to go and watch the fireworks; instead she completely ghosted me in this strange town so she and him could "work things out." FML
Groundhog Day
Today, I had a car accident. In the same place, at the same time, and with the same friend in the passenger seat as last week. FML
Long haul
Today, I was driving to visit my parents for the first time in two years. After spending about $4000 to make sure my car wouldn't break down on the journey, around the halfway point, the front tire popped and the engine blew out. I'm about 5 states away from both my parents and my home. FML
Today, I hadn't been out in two weeks, and I was looking forward to going to the beach with my friends. Instead, I rear-ended someone at a roundabout and had to go home. FML
Today, my whole family made an hour-long drive to a restaurant that's just a few minutes away from my place. I wasn't invited. FML
Today, I had the lovely experience of witnessing a tow truck cause a couple thousand dollars' worth of damage to my broken-down car. FML
Today, my friend and I drove three hours to attend a U2 concert. We had been psyched about the tickets for weeks because they were awesome seats (my early Christmas present). After a long drive, we get to the venue and I realize in horror that I left tickets at home, on my desk, three hours away. FML
Today, I got a rental car because my car needed new tires and I had a long drive ahead of me. Today, the rental car got a flat tire. FML
Next time, text me instead
Today, I drove 120 miles to spend a few days with my girlfriend. Less than 12 hours into my stay, she dumped me. FML

Just show them the rest of the crazy shit you can see in Aussie land, they'll either be satisfied, or dead.

Burn baby burn! That does suck though. Sorry you had to drive all that way to find out. Hopefully it was a scenic road trip.

Hopefully the trip itself was fun or you found something else exciting!

I'm curious as to how you didn't know that. A tourist attraction burning down is bound to be in the news.

there have been a lot of bush fires recently and people have lost their homes and their lives. tourist attractions shouldnt be on the news' list of things to report.
yerawizardlizzy 27
Why not? There's no reason why it can't be reported with the lost homes and lives. It's still a loss.

Because in Australia we respect the fact that a human life has more value than a tourist attraction?
yerawizardlizzy 27
I never once said it had more value. Where are you getting that? Seriously. There is absolutely no reason it can't be reported on the news. If Disney World burns down, you better believe it's going to be on the news!!

Where was it ?

Australia.

#10 Australia is a VERY big place! It's a perfectly legitimate question.
dyoy_87 21
Well I answered with all the information given to me at that moment in time.

I'm guessing it was reliquaire. amazing shop in Tasmania. burnt down a few weeks back

By the way I bet you wish you had the burning desire before last week. I'll throw myself out
Metalslipp 15
Be careful, don't throw yourself into the fire.
Mathalamus 25
Why didn't you do some basic research before going?
bandaidstations 28
Why would you if it is something you've lived close to your whole life? I live by the Flight 93 memorial in PA and I've taken people to see it when they visit. I don't look it up before going because I've been there and I expect the memorial to still be there too.
Mathalamus 25
A two hour ride isn't that close. And I would still make sure it's there and all. Or open. You know, to prevent exactly this from happening.

That blows buddy, hope you enjoyed the rest of your day though..
