Today, I did a California stop during a drive with my Driver's Ed teacher. He made me get out, hug the stop sign and apologize to it. FML

Last call, bad decisions and 3 a.m. texts you'll regret until noon. Cheers.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was rear-ended while at a stop sign, by my driving instructor. FML
Today, while I was driving, I saw my driving instructor from high school walking on the sidewalk. As I waved to him, I rear-ended the car in front of me. Guess I really showed him how much I learned from him. FML
Today, I took my driving test. It was all going well until out of habit from driving with my boyfriend, I reached over and held my instructor's hand. FML
Today, I had my first driving lesson. I learned how to be stopped by a cop, who told me what a horrible driver I was. FML
Today, as I was taking the driver's test to get my license, I backed into a car. It belonged to the instructor sitting in my passenger seat. FML
Today, I got pulled over during my driving test. FML
Today, while driving to my girlfriend's house, I passed up a stop sign without stopping. A car passing by honked. I honked back several times and flipped them the finger. Turns out it was my girlfriend's dad trying to say hi. FML
Today, I went to take my driver's test, and I did almost everything perfectly. The last thing was to back into a driveway. As I went to put my hand on the passenger seat to look over my shoulder, I got so nervous that I hit my instructor in the face. FML
Today, I hit a parked car. It happened to be my driving instructor's car. While he was instructing me, sitting in the passenger seat. I don't think I'll pass. FML
Careful
Today, I was having a driving lesson. I ended up driving so badly that my instructor asked me to stop the car. Not so he could explain my mistakes to me, but so he could get out and vomit. FML

As an Australian, I have no idea what a California stop is

Despite being the opposite of a California stop, I do think that acknowledging stop signs' feelings is vaguely Californian

It's called a Saint Louis Stop over here. Maybe nobody anywhere likes stop signs.

I'm from the St. Louis area. It's a rolling stop everywhere I've ever heard it.

If you do that with your driving instructor YDI. If you try that on your driving test you'll fail the test.

Haha in California, the majority of people don't fully stop at the stop signs. But, at least he didn't fail you OP!

It's drivers Ed..... Just follow the road laws to the fullest extent then forget it when you actually get hour license... Or don't that would be the better option... Just at the very least do it when you have an instructor in your car

YDI for trying it with a driving instructor in the car! Also, a California stop is called different things dependent upon where you are from. I'm from NC, we call them rolling stops. My husband grew up in GA and they called them Georgia stops.

The more understood term is a rolling stop.

You admit that you didn't actually stop for a stop sign and want sympathy because the teacher put you in your place? Please don't drive.

Actually, it's called a Michigan left-turn: for safety reasons, you never actually make a left-hand turn in the middle of the intersection itself; instead, you first make a right-hand turn (next move over to the left lane) and then a u-turn at the designated, purposely-created gap in the boulevard. Annoying at times, but still far safer AND no traffic jams/ long line of cars waiting to turn left. :-)
