OP, I'm sorry 90% of the people in this thread are being assholes. I'm a recovering bulimic myself and I know how hard it can be. If your mom doesn't understand, please seek therapy so you have someone to listen to you and help you through these difficult times. And to everyone giving her crap for "wasting food middle Eastern kids could eat," it's not as though she's physically stealing food from underprivileged. Her not throwing up her pizza isn't going to buy one for a refugee camp. If you're so concerned about starvation, donate food or money or time to charities helping them instead of sitting around mocking someone on the internet. You might think you're Mother Theresa, but bitching on FML isn't putting food on anybody's plate.

Lame. That sucks that your mother did not react how you needed her to. I hope she comes to be more supportive. I wish you the best in your recovery.

OP, that sucks. That was NOT the way for your mother to react. I hope you find more supportive people to help you through this tough time. Also, to all the people saying 'OMG, but you're killing starving people by wasting food', how much extra food do YOU donate to these people? Do you give all your leftovers to the homeless family you pass on the street? How often do you send care packages overseas? Good luck with your recovery, OP.

I am very sorry. That's absolutly horrible what your mom did. Good job on asking for help. That can be very hard. It helps to keep a journal and write down what you feel before you make yourself throw up. And you should read the book perfect by natasha friend. It's about bulimia and it has a lot of help numbers in the back. Good luck and I know you can make it through this.

Good job on asking for help, it must be tough dealing with that every day. And I wish your mom didn't freak out about the wrong thing. I think she missed the whole point and may have some messed up priorities. But hang in there and maybe ask someone else with whom you are close to for help. :) Not everyone will be like that.

I feel sorry for you, i really do, your mother obviously has no idea how serious bulimia can be. She seems to be completely forgetting the seriousness or isn't aware and instead of focusing on your problem she is focusing on money, i can't stand to listen to anyone who has the sub concious ideals that a dollar is worth more than a relatives health, she shoudl be taught some of the facts and realise the seriousness, not go all "penny saver, arsy mother" on you

There are other ways to get help, parents honestly aren't always the best way to go. My mom doesn't help me at all, so I found a good counselor. At school. For free. You should do the same, or just push her to get you one.

youre mom is a total bitch for saying that because bulimia can lead to death, but as wrong as what she said was i understand where she comes from. bulgaria is not a wealthy country, (while the average american made 20k and average bulgarian made 2k and if the government is paying for you food and your on welfare, i see why she would say something like that. she was wrong for saying that but there is reason behind what she said
