Today, I told my mom that I'm bulimic and have been for a few years, and that I needed help. She responded by saying, "Well that's clearly not working for you. Why don't you try anorexia?" She then patted me on the head, smiled, and walked away. FML
Today, I decided I need help, so I confessed to my mother that I'm bulimic. After she looked it up online she started screaming at me for "Wasting food that I'm not paying for." FML
Today, I finally broke down and told my mom that I'd relapsed with my eating disorder. She told me to quit whining and eat a burger, because she didn't want to pay for another therapy session. FML
Today, after I skipped dessert for the third day in a row, my mom cornered me and accused me of being anorexic. I'm actually not far off being clinically obese and I'm just trying to diet, but nothing I say will convince her. She wants me to see a psychiatrist about a disorder I don't even have. FML
Today, I felt sick to my stomach, so I told my mother I didn't want to eat dinner. She started accusing me of being anorexic, so I ate a little bit anyway to make her stop. I then threw up, only for her to take it as confirmation that I have an eating disorder. FML
Today, after struggling with an eating disorder and hiding my symptoms for months, I got up the courage to tell my mom that I need help. Then she asked if an ice cream would make me feel better. FML
Today, I told my mom that I think I’m anorexic and she told me she didn’t care. When I asked why, in disbelief she replied, "Honey, you are 5’3 and over 350 lbs, at this point you NEED to be anorexic." FML
Today, my step-mom asked if I was having some eating issues. I admitted that maybe I've picked up some bad habits from friends and school. Now she won't stop bombarding me with self-help books and therapy websites. FML
Today, my mom asked me if I had an eating problem because I've been eating less. I only started eating less because she told me I ate too much. FML
Today, my mom accused me of having an eating disorder, and I didn't correct her. Truth is, I lost weight after I went off the pill a year ago. I'm too embarrassed to tell my mom that I haven't had anyone in a year. FML

Who say op needs to see a doctor? Depending on what kind of eating disorder, and I'm assuming it's anorexia or bulimia, I'd say op needs an All-you-can-eat buffet.

You see a therapist when you have problems with life, you see a psychologist when you have mental illnesses, you see a psychiatrist when you have a mental illness that requires medication. OP needs to see a psychologist. Her mom just needs to stop being a bitch.

9- Therapy can refer to any form of medical treatment. To receive therapy you must at some point see a therapist. In this situation OP could see a psychotherapist.

Your mom obviously doesn't know what to do or say. Bitch isn't necessarily the right word. Id say clueless or insensitive or unknowing. Since she seems a little dense and OP obviously wanted help from her in the first place, OP should not just admit to the eating disorder but admit to wanting help and specifically from the mom. I bet then the mom would act more understanding.

Ok guys, here's my last statement for this thread: I am very sorry to anyone I offended. I simply tried to be funny, but failed this time. I get it; there's nothing funny about eating disorders. Next time, I'll keep my bloody fingers off the keyboard. If this gets a bunch of thumb-downs, I'll know that no one is offended anymore, and are just being butt wipes. Go seek help from a friend or another family member. Having an eating disorder is very dangerous. Maybe instead of posting this on fml you should go see a counselor? Idk it's just a suggestion. =|

Yes, because posting this took way too much precious time. Even if she had been calling a doctor, she wouldn't be able to see them immediately. It's not like the doctor can just teleport to her in an instant or visa versa.

Avoid your mother during the healing process if her attitude continues to bother you. She's only going to cause you loads of stress, and that is terrible when you have an eating disorder. Hopefully your father, some other relative, or a close friend will be more supportive. I hope you get out of it all right.
