Today, after years of struggling with poor mental health, my depression convinced me that no one would ever care enough about me to help if I reached out. I called the local suicide hotline anyway. They didn’t answer. Twice. FML

Waste of a phone call
Today, I called the suicide hotline after two months of recurring thoughts. I got put on hold by their machine, then was on call with someone who barely spoke English, got transferred to another building, so I was put on hold again, and finally got hung up on. I was already feeling pretty worthless, so thanks guys. FML

Today, I called the crisis helpline, and because my connection was cutting in and out for a moment, they hung up on me. When I called back, it was shift change, so they hung up again. FML

Don't know, don't care
Today, I realised that if I died, no one would care. I know this because when I called my partner distressed last night, he told me he needed to sleep and hung up in less than 45 seconds, and a friend told me to call lifeline. I haven’t heard from either of them since. FML

Old lady hotline
Today, I called the Suicide hotline. I dialled the number wrong and woke some poor old lady. She thought I was her son and kept asking me, "How come you don't visit anymore?" I told her I couldn't visit because of the Covid pandemic. I lied to an elderly woman I've never met. FML

Today, I was feeling extremely depressed and worthless, so I decided to use the crisis chat. I told them I felt lonely and worthless, and had nobody to talk to. They never responded. FML

Being suicidal is like a phobia. For a phobia, even though you know spiders or snakes or whatever probably won't hurt you you still fear them. For suicide, even though you know it's not a good idea, you still feel like you need to do it. Yes, suicide is much more serious, but like a phobia, even though you know it's irrational it's hard to stop it. Also, suicidal people don't really want 100% to die,they're just trying to call for help BTW, this is like 9th grade health info. not some kind of professional psychologist info. OP, I really hope you find health

"Today, it was my first day working at the suicide prevention hotline place. I had to take a leak, so I left, and when I came back 3 minutes later, there was a missed call and a new voicemail. On the message I could hear some kid saying 'Not even the suicide hotline will help me' then the gun went off.... the bad news is that I was fired and now I can't pay my rent. FML."

I remember after a good friend of mine died I was feeling really crappy about it, I tried calling one of those teen help things. they answered and gave me another number to call. When i called that number, it was an automated answering thing that gave me yet another number. when I called THAT number, they referred me to the first number I called, who then just never answered. I looked up another one on the net, and all that was listed in my state were the numbers I had already called. I looked up another not in my area, and they told me I had to call one in my area, it was completely ridiculous and I call scam on those stupid numbers, even if they advertise on TV. I was in a shitty state of mind, it was mid day (so my friends were either in class or work), I just wanted to give it a shot.
