Some friends you've got there
Today, I wrote a post about how I was thinking of attempting suicide. Not one single person contacted me to see if I was alright. FML

Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I called a suicide prevention hotline. No one picked up. FML
Today, after years of struggling with poor mental health, my depression convinced me that no one would ever care enough about me to help if I reached out. I called the local suicide hotline anyway. They didn’t answer. Twice. FML
Today, I was feeling extremely depressed and worthless, so I decided to use the crisis chat. I told them I felt lonely and worthless, and had nobody to talk to. They never responded. FML
Today, after I supported my friends through heartbreak, had long conversations at 4 a.m., stayed late at work to help through breakdowns, I finally broke after a series of bad experiences. I decided to reach out. All I got was, "lol that sucks", "Oh, would you believe the week I had" or simply no response. FML
Today, I realised that if I died, no one would care. I know this because when I called my partner distressed last night, he told me he needed to sleep and hung up in less than 45 seconds, and a friend told me to call lifeline. I haven’t heard from either of them since. FML
Today, I got dumped after about a four year relationship. Feeling lonely and depressed, I posted on Facebook, "is hurt, someone please text or call me." Then one of my cousins commented, "No one text him." His comment got 17 "likes." No one got in contact with me. FML
Today, in a state of severe depression and fearing I might do the worst, I called my local suicide helpline. I was put on hold. FML
Today, my phone decided to delete all my numbers. I posted on Facebook that people should message or text me if they felt like I should have their number. I didn't get a single reply. FML
Today, I messaged my two best friends for emotional support. I don't normally do this, as I feel like I'm bothering people, but I was having a breakdown. One never replied; the other said, "Everyone is having a hard time" then talked about her own problems. FML
Today, I hate fucking existing. I could literally die right now and know one would ever even check on me for months. I’ve literally gone 4 months with no work, locked in my house the whole time, and never received a text, phone call, or a knock at the door. Not a single person thought about me. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

Even if you dont have good friends or family now, it is possible to heal and form better relationships in the future. Please reach for help. I wish the best continuation for you.

While reaching out for help is great, doing it in a general way to test your friends isn't. If you were using facebook or instagram your friends probably didn't even see it as those posts rarely get interaction and the algorithms on those sites promote things with a lot of likes. If you are thinking of committing suicide, making a post like that can seem like a way to ask for help but it's much better to speak to a friend before having those feelings and asking them if they can be a support. That way you get their consent to take on that huge role in your life. If you don't have a friend like that a mental health provider or a hotline is a much better resource. I've been there, I've been suicidal with a plan, you will never get the help you need by shouting into the void. Make plans before you get to a low point so that you're not desperate when you get there. And if you're always at that low point, reach out to your healthcare provider and be honest.

Did you want help? Or just attention?

What the hell is wrong with you?

the way the fml is written it is hard to tell. and yes people do post suicidal thoughts to social media for attention. the same people never understand why this is a problem, and I have seen this sort of fml complaining about not getting attention for the same thing. eventually people get tired of hearing others cry wolf. Also if they wanted help they could say as such...

its a valid question though?

Nothing. Thats the issue with people like her. Most just want attention and then complain that people are sick of it after the 10th time.

1-800-273-8255 is the number for the national suicide hotline. Idk who you are, or what’s going on, but give them a call

I'm sorry. This doesn't deserve to be an FML. Feel free to message me if you want to talk.
