Today, after reading a sign at the airport, my 6-year-old son thought it would be funny to yell, "Daddy's got a bomb!" Airport security then tackled me to the ground. Oh, and I missed my flight and my mother's birthday. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Thanks, son
Today, I was supposed to catch a 4:40 flight to New York. My 5 year-old son handed me my carry on bag as I left the house. Turns out he had put his older brother's BB gun into my bag to "keep me safe." I missed my flight after I was detained and strip-searched. FML
STRANGER DANGER
Today, I was picking up my 10 year-old step-son from the airport. He began screaming and crying saying that I wasn't his father. I ended up sitting in a holding room because the security guards thought I was kidnapping him. My wife thought it was hilarious. FML
Today, my 6-year-old son was so angry at me for not buying him overpriced candy at the airport that he told a security guard I had a machine gun in my suitcase. The interrogation was not pleasant. FML
Today, my dad drove me to the airport. As I got out of the car, he said, "You better pop that zit on your face, security might think it's a bomb". FML
Never joke with TSA
Today, I missed my flight because I was held in airport security because I'd "threatened" an employee. He had confiscated my eyelash curler and jokingly I asked if he thought I was going to curl him to death. He didn't laugh. FML
The Covid who stole Christmas
Today, I picked up my 5 year-old son for Christmas break. We were on the way to the airport, talking about Santa and what we were going to do over the break when my fiancée called to tell me that she had been exposed to Covid-19. I took him home to his mom's and missed my flight. FML
Revealing
Today, I was in a busy airport bathroom with my three year-old son. While in the process of pulling my pants down, my son decided to open the stall door. I jumped up to yank the door closed, but not before the line of waiting women saw me with my pants wrapped around my ankles. FML
Today, I was traveling home with my four-year-old son. While we were standing in line at the security checkpoint, I hear the sound of water dripping and turned to find my son urinating on the floor. He'd read a sign that said we weren't allowed to take any liquids with us. FML
Today, I was boarding my flight when I got pulled aside for looking suspicious. As she was opening my bag, I said, "Be careful, I jammed so many clothes in there it may explode." I was then strip searched for my trouble. FML
Dogs with jobs
Today, my family got detained by airport security thanks to one of their dogs. It didn't even bark to indicate there was something wrong, though. It just kept sniffing my dad, probably because we had our dog with us in the car on the way there. FML

Well hopefully your son learned a lesson. Can't really expect a 6 year old to know what he can and cannot say in a airport.

Uhh...yeah, you can, dipshit. However, this story is a lie.

#1 Not exactly, no, but you can and should teach them that accusing his parents of untrue things and lying is bad and will get him grounded. The same situation could have happened with the kid yelling at the mall "daddy touches me in places I don't want" and other such things for fun. Or "my teacher touched me". That sort of thing has happened before many times, and it's particularly bad because then it makes it hard to know when it's actually true. Kids really need to know not to drop accusations for fun when it's not true, especially grave accusations. And kids have an uncanny knack to sense what are things that will cause a mess or be funny if they say them, and of course they'll have fun doing it if they think it's of no consequence for themselves. They should be taught that you don't play with important matters, and that you don't lie about important accusations, of any type. If the kid knew that, they wouldn't have yelled the bomb thing in the airport.

How is it a lie? By not being the truth, moron. 1. He would NOT have been tackled. Ever heard of excessive force? 2. You don't think something like this would make some sort of news?

@57 -- What? Even the best parent can't control exactly what their kids say. They can teach them not to say certain things, but ultimately they have no control on what comes out of their kid's mouth.

Very much FYL but a little bit YDI, too. You should have talked with him beforehand about the proper behavior for airports. Airports are srs bizness and kids can't be expected to know that.

Though it is funny, your life sucks and I hope you teach your 6 year old a lesson for saying that kind of stuff in an airport. I moderated this and said yes :)

only an fml if your a bad parent, the airport has done a lot to keep you safe, obviously a 6 year old wouldn't say it on purpose. you should be thankful they did their jobs, its only your mothers birthday, I'm sure you have been to a few dozen of them in your lifetime
