Today, I began training my replacement at work. She's a senior citizen. She got excited when I taught her how to highlight text on the screen and double-click the mouse because she "never knew how to do those fancy tricks." The job is entirely computer-based. I have to train her for 6 weeks. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, the woman I'm training at work asked, while staring intently at the keyboard, "Now, which one of these buttons is the space-bar again?" She is 80 years-old, types about one word per minute, and I have just one week to get her completely trained. FML
Today, I started my new job, and was introduced to my colleague. She seemed old and quite experienced, so I thought she was going to teach me. I was wrong. It turns out I'm a replacement for her daughter, who used to secretly do all of her work for her because she has no idea how to do it herself. FML
Great news!
Today, I started a new job. After being trained on several obscure computer programs I'm expected to use in just one day, my new boss informed me she's going on a week long vacation starting tomorrow. She's the only other person who knows how this program runs. FML
Today, I spent my working day teaching my new Supervisor the basics of Excel. Until two weeks ago, he was the Office Junior. He and I applied for the same job, but he got it based on the strengths of his "far superior" Excel skills. I'm now teaching him how to do the job that I didn't get. FML
The other shoe drops
Today, I found out the procedure manual I've been creating for months and finally finished is going to be used to train the person replacing me. FML
Today, I got demoted from my manager's position, only to be replaced by a 21 year-old who has never worked in retail in her life. I now have to spend the next month teaching her my job so they can fire me. FML
Catching flak
Today, my boss reached a new low when, after three software upgrades, she refused to let me update the user manual that I wrote a year ago. She has also cancelled the training sessions I set up to help people learn the new software. People are asking me why I'm not doing my job anymore. FML
Like spinning plates
Today, I became the senior receptionist at my job, which is supposed to have three receptionists. The others all had life changes, so they're moving on, which is fair, but now I have to train new people. I've been here three weeks. FML
Just think about the shareholders!
Today, I learned that for the next two months I'll get to train physicians on how to use the computer program that has made my job obsolete. I've known this program was coming for months, but I didn't know it would be taking my job. FML
Today, I filled in for my absent pregnant co-worker like I have done since she went on disability a month ago, at the job I’ve been doing for 15 months. Today the replacement they hired also came to work, and I had to train her since she has more experience and got the maternity leave position over me. FML

It would seem there is a bright side to everything!

Whoever hired her must be her grandchildren or something, seriously, if she's training for a job that's 100% computer-based, and doesn't even know these things.. I bet she doesn't know what alt-f4 does either and all those fancy tri-- err shortcuts ;p Just tell your boss she's not competant enough for the job and find someone else

lol @ fancy tricks

The company hired her. Train her for six weeks--she's the company's problem then, and you've moved on to bigger and better things, and hopefully they've learned how to actually screen an applicant.

She will learn faster if she is excited. Stop being bitchy about it and teach the damn woman!

Man that sucks training your own replacement. It's worse than her being a dumbass on the computer

OP may be getting promoted and needed to train a replacement, instead of leaving the company.

Hopefully a replacement because you quit, not got fired. But FYL. You should talk to your boss if you think she's underqualified.

I can't remember the last time I saw a qualified person in any position, at any job; so this is nothing new.

the best you can do is to demand more payment for your fruitless efforts...

Does she put white-out on the screen to fix errors? If she does, FYL!

Most probably someone related to/ friends with her since she is so obviously under qualified for the job

Your Boss is stupid, she's totally unqualified for that job...
