Today, my best friend called me a moron for disputing her belief that Canada is in South America. FML
Today, I heard two of my students having a conversation. One asked what state Arizona was in, and the other replied Canada. I teach sixth grade social studies and they weren't joking. FML
Today, I had to explain to my grandfather that Canadians aren't evil by reminding him that he's Canadian. FML
Today, while teaching my history class, a girl asked me where North America was. She lives in North America. FML
Today, I had to explain to a coworker that even though, yes, I’m Polish and, yes, my family’s from Poland, that, no, we’re not from The North Pole. We’re not from Antarctica either. FML
Today, I've been living in Canada for past two years, and my friend from the States came to visit. He was talking about how Canadians are so polite, but I was in total denial, that he didn't know anything. While I was arguing with him, a guy in front of us walked into a pole, then apologized to it. FML
Today, some people in my class here in New Zealand found out that I'm from Canada, then spent the rest of the period asking if I had a pet moose and whether or not I lived in an igloo. They were completely genuine questions. FML
Today, my teenage daughter tried to convince me that the UK is a part of Canada. After I pulled out a map to prove her wrong, she got all angry and defensive, and said that nobody's perfect at "geometry". My daughter is an idiot. FML
Today, I was meeting up with a friend in a town. He said he was at the restaurant we were going to meet at; I was too. Turns out I was in the wrong town. FML
Today, here in Canada, my father-in-law talked to me about how people who are "not Canadians" are destroying the country. He called me an "import" several times within the course of an hour. I've been a citizen for over twenty years. FML

I live in Nebraska and take offense to the fact you think we are all homophobic. There are homophobes in every state and you condemning every person in Nebraska, and Alaska for that fact, for supposedly being bigoted makes you just as bad as the people who actually hate gays. I admit, not everyone in Nebraska has open opinions, but I have a gay cousin, and three gay friends and my whole family and all my other friends love those people deeply. While I appreciate that you don't have conservative ideals, stop stereotyping and try to respect everyone, gay, straight, black, Latino, republican, democrat, male, female, homophobic, arachnophobic, thanatophobic, any type of phobic, it doesn't matter.
